Thanks so much for posting this. Although I would be remiss if I didn't mention that this version is by no means longer than the final version that actually made it onto the soundtrack.
While I do agree with the fact that the song doesn’t flow quite as well (it really gives me the vibe that this wasn’t completed; probably bits and pieces put together to give a feel for the song, but I could be wrong), I am quite a fan of the instrumentals, especially during Lydia’s part after she tricked Beetlejuice into making him think she’s going to say his name the first time. It seems more intense to me, and I am a fan of the lyrical flow in some parts, like the whole “I don’t want you in my corner” section. All-in-all, glad that the one on the album is the one we got because you can’t go wrong with “Say My Name”, but I’m still a fan of this version.
Ikr? Pushing him off the roof was a horrible way to end it, this one still makes it seem like Lydia knows her own self control and won't make a deal (instead of "oh wow he's begging time to shove")!! I hope that makes sense 😂
I like the end part to this, but I don’t know how they would move on to the possession scene without Betelgeuse saying it and giving Lydia the idea. He could probably say it after the song, but then them just ignoring him and rushing out wouldn’t feel right. He’d try to follow him, and while that could work, him standing around for the start of Day-o would be a bit weird imo.
I agree but then again I prefer the line ”Lydia don’t end yourself, defend yourself” over this demo version. I also like the vocals more on the actual broadway version. So now I’m torn wishing some one could edit this ending to the broadway version :D
i wish that they had combined the new and old version. Like the rock music opening, and the 'gross? creepy? ugly? disgusting?' bit from this version; and ' im on the bench, but coach![...]' and the 'BFFFFs FoReVeR! AAAAA!' part from the new. but instead of Beej going splat, he just rises up and lands on stage again. and then he says, "ill make you say my name! [...]" and continues the ending to this song. I also really *really* like when at the end, BeetleJuice's part when he says, "you cant run AwaaaAAAAYYY! ill MAke you sAY mY nAME!" that part ust gives me chills its so good.
No it doesn't. The final version actually offers a resolution and offers a setup for the following scene. This one just comes to an abrupt, unresolved conclusion.
@@Superdarkcloud666 I mean if there was a say my name revised than it would make more sense. Like add a 50sec bit like the end other version and it works pretty well
did anyone notice that in this version Beetlejuice says "so" 2 times in the part "this is gonna be SO SO good", but in the other version he only says it once. For me saying it 2 times makes more sense, so i was kinda confused when i listened to the other one. Ok thanks for reading my Bible :)
the fact that you can hear beetlejuice and alex in this version is so weird to me but this is when alex was still experimenting with bj’s voice and before he found out he could do way better without damaging his voice
I cant stop thinking about how he says "hey" to creepy as if to say, no I'm not how could you say that? Then at the end of the musical, he's like "I'm a *creepy* old guy!"
Oof, this is so good. A lot of this song has a lot of good parts I wish they kept. But I also get why they couldn’t, this one seems more slow paced and a different style. But they also have a lot more back and forth between each other which I like. I also like the Alex vocals, honestly I wish they kept that last part in the most because it shows off Alex’s singing skills. Like that riff was so good, but they didn’t keep it, but, like I said, I understand why. They new one is much more fast pace. All in all, I love both versions so much.
To the those who say this doesn’t flow well, while I do agree, it’s probably because they were testing it. It would probably have been better in the end, they could have changed up some things and notes! But I do prefer the new one
A few things: very sad they left out the part about the corners and the part right before it. They were my favorite parts of this. Also I like the way Lydia says “how about a game of charades?” Another thing is even though I like that Barbara and Adam joined the official song and changed the ending where Lydia pushed bj off of the roof and Lydia sings at the end, I do like this version when it’s bj saying “I’ll make you say my name” and Lydia saying “I’ll never say your name.” Also when she says “I’ll never say your name” at the end for the last time, it sounds like “I wanna say your name.” Which I am 99.9% sure it’s “I’ll never say your name,” however, I feel like if it was “I wanna say your name,” it would still be good. Like it’s like Lydia has the urge to summon him but she knows she should trust him. Edit: I forgot to say how I personally like the “really it’s a flattering offer” line in the official version, just my opinion.
I wanna be honest with you at 1:11 I like better then the one we have today. 1. I kinda like how it starts off quiet at the ends but then it starts to get louder as he starts to say is name The third time 2. and it adds more attention to what’s about to happen
I love the “Lost my mind though” just listening to this brought back memories of when I was listening to beetle juice before the album came out and I was looking for any music from it I could find 😂
omg noo where's the "BE a doll and spare the leeeeecture" like i know the lyric is in there but the higher version is the most beautiful thing i've ever heard
I noticed that when listening to different versions, there is some difference in the final presentation and a difference in, possibly events. Yes, the same phrase, "You can't run away" I don’t think that was just there, it meant something in the original context.
I love the lyrics in this version and some of the vocals, but it’s pretty choppy and doesn’t flow as well as the official version. But I really wish they kept some of the lyrics in this version in the official version though. They really fit the characters and sounded really good
Me: This is pretty good Tiktok:.....so? Can I listen? Me : No youll just ruin it like you always do. Tiktok: come ooooonnnn Me: dont do it- D o n t d o i t- Tiktok:and its mine now.
I like the new one better but I like the fact that beetlejuice in this one is saying that he’s gonna make Lydia say his name instead of her sayin she’s gonna make her dad day her name which makes no sense to me b/c he says her name. The ending jus makes more sense in this one to me and I jus like it a shit ton better
In the show, when Lydia says she wants her dad to say her name, she doesnt mean it literally. She means that she wants to be acknowledged by her dad because hes been pretty much ignoring her and her problems.
My friend and I wanna sing this for our schools talent show (since we don’t have a Barbara or an Adam it’s a lot easier to do this) but we can’t find an instrumental. Does anyone know where we can find one?
@@amber-kr3ij we didn’t because covid cancelled it :((( but we couldn’t find a karaoke version of it, so instead we had me as Lydia sing Adam ans Barbara’s part, pretending Beetlejuice (the friend) possessed Lydia. And then, after I shoved him off the roof, I looked to the audience and said “don’t look at me that way, he was already dead! Besides, I am gonna need him for this possession stuff. I just don’t wanna make his life too easy”
