but what to do when the entire HOA has already made these mulch volcanoes? we have about 100 trees in the neighborhood that are 2-30 years old, and they are all mulched this way. some roots are girdled already. the Board refuses to make changes, citing visual preference. I was thinking about just going around with a rake and pulling the mulch back, and clipping the smaller girdled roots with my loppers
