Miniaturist Journal 55. Unfortunately it is time to say goodbye to Josje's Miniatures. It has played a large part in my miniature journey, but it's now in the past. And I'm making a copy of a stepladder that we've had for decades.

Oh my! My heart sank when I saw the saw the title of your video. I’m so sorry to hear about your website, I didn’t even know it was out there, but I’m glad to hear you are sticking with us via RU-vid. Like someone else said, don’t feel pressured to get content out all the time. We take whatever you can share with us. I love this little stool. I have a Dremel that I haven’t used yet, so I think I need to get it out. Thank you for another great video.

Sorry to have confused you for a bit! For me the decision to give up the website was a bit difficult, as I've had a website about my miniatures and my canal house(s) almost from the start. But I understand social media use changes fast and people don't tend to visit websites that much anymore unless they are buying something. So I decided it was too much work and too expensive to keep it going. RU-vid it is ;-) Thank you Dana!

Oh dear Josje, a jolt of shock I got at that title. I have been your blog follower since 2010, and I hope your blog will be available still with all the tiips and tutorials on there, even if you're no longer updating it. Onwards and forwards I guess, change is constant! Happy we'll still see yyour miniatures on YT!

My heart sank when I saw the title that said goodbye, as this is the only place I have ever seen your work. Thank goodness you will still be sharing your talents and experiences with us on RU-vid! Please don’t feel pressured to produce content on a regular basis. I am happy with whatever and whenever you upload. Love that you are recycling the old cupboard but doesn’t the wood splinter more because it is so dry, especially pine? At that small scale a splinter can be crucial for accuracy! BTW, here in Australia we use the decimals as in the UK and other English speaking places but unlike the US we do use the metric system of measurement.👏

Ah sorry to have scared you a little Coby! Yes, the wood is a little dry so it splinters more easily (and I pulled it off a big nail), but I don't have any problems with it splintering while cutting it. Even the tiniest pieces are fine. So without knowing, I was using the Australian system for writing decimals and measurements, 😂

Such a shame to lose your website. I went there whenever I needed inspiration and because you have such good closeup photos I could usually work out how to do something similar. That is more difficult on video, but then we get a lot of explanations instead!

Ah yes, that's true. It was a bit difficult to give up my website. I really liked how it looked and it had so much information on there which, similar to what you just said, was much easier to look up there than in the videos, But my blog is still there and has loads of photos too. I hope you will find some inspiration there when you need it. And here 😉 Thanks Idske!
