Loved having coffee with Stuart at The Vinyl Cafe every Sunday at noon on CBC radio. When I heard he took his show to the big " stage in the sky ", I teared up. Felt like I'd lost a friend. Us fans are lucky that he's still with us on RU-vid. You sure knew how to make me laugh, Stuart ! Thanks a million ! So long for now . . . .

It has been two years and I still miss “Uncle Stuart”. I want to imagine him trading stories with Mr. Dressup and Mr. Rogers.. yes, there must be a heaven for writers.

This made me sad in a way I didn't know was possible for someone retiring.

I had always envisioned an animated version of The Vinyl Cafe with a likeness of Stewart being drawn as Dave. I always listened to show on Sundays on CBC while driving taxi

Like It Or Lump It an animated vinyl cafe would've been awesome but in a way the way he told a story you could envision Dave kinda like Homer Simpson in your imagination, the way he told it you could picture it ;and often your mind could already see what was awaiting Dave before he could tell it hence his famous remark "now don't be getting ahead of me!"

I once heard Stuart give a episode where he had read letters fans had sent him. One letter was of a woman recalling how her Dad had built an outhouse at the summer cottage. Instead of digging a hole as usual for outhouses, her Dad had placed a 45 gallon drum to collect the waste. Soon, it was said, the 45 gallon drum filled to the point it had to be emptied. The weight was too much to lift out of the trap door, so her Dad had grabbed his old Army rifle and walked into the outhouse. Her Dad had thought to aim the rifle and fire into the barrel to allow the liquid family waste to seep out of the bullet holes. Needless to say Stuart could not stop laughing when telling this story. Has anyone heard this and perhaps you can link me to the episode to listen too once again?
