The combination of the rye and cognac was what worked for me. The rye seemed a bit strong and the cognac a bit light. But, combining the two was right on point for my tastes and this of my wife, who is not a fan of a typical Old Fashioned or the Sazerac with either the rye or the cognac, by themselves. I made them for our Mardi Gras-themed party and they were a big hit.

That is fantastic, the combination of the two spirits is greta you the the best of both that way. thank you.

both are great! :) in fact, i have client who has been drinking Sazerac for more than 10 years and wants it half with rye and half with cognac (30 ml. each). i also add 1 dash of angostura bitters! :)

Barrel strength bourbon makes a great sazerac if you keep the ice in the drink a little longer to slightly dilute it

Hi Mike, besides the Sazerac, Get a Ramos Gin Fizz, Vieux Carre, a La Louisiane, a grasshopper. That one is creamy and minty And you can't go wrong with a Hurricane.

If you can't decide whether Rye or Cognac is the one to go, make a...yeah just like you said it starting at 9:12 a batch of 50-50 both and then measure 2oz of it. This is a super stylish drink. Atomizers here are the beast as well.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to chill the glass and then spray in the absinthe so you don’t throw most of it out with the ice?
@boozeontherocks
@boozeontherocks 3 года назад
Yes it would. And I am surprised that no one thought of that. I generally don't chill the glasses so that every one can see my pours.

Love all variants of the Sazerac (spirit, sugar, peychaud, absinthe, twist of lemon). Love a cask strength lot 40 or Knob Creek for a long winter time sip, reading. Summer I tend to prefer the rye/cognac split and in the fall I love Calvados(apple brandy, not liqueur) which is superb with a slice of apple pie.... BTW a cheat for more anise aroma without breaking the bank is do a gentle grating of a star anise. As always great video!!
