SB's Movie Reviews: Once Upon A Forest (1993) 

I think this movie is a bit underrated. Unfortunately it came out during the time during the 90s and any Western animation movie that WASN'T Disney tended to get overlooked. It was a box office bomb too. My mom got this movie for my youngest brother though on VHS because he was into any movies involving animals. Is it the best movie, no, but it's still charming. You are right about the songs, they're not the greatest. I did enjoy the character development and I did like how humans weren't automatically villainized like in most environmental films.

I actually had this movie as a kid and I loved this movie, and looking back at it I still love it. Honestly the environmental message was actually more secondary to the main message of teamwork, the whole movie shows that through cooperation you can do amazing things that seemed impossible and that if you work together you can make things right. The environmental message was actually pretty good too, where as most movies would have humans intentionally destroy the forest for a parking lot or something, this movie was smarter and decided to have be an accident and have the guy immediately get help, but it only happened because someone else was careless and left broken glass on the road, it shows that people can be careless and cause problems, but at the end humans come in to help fix their mistake and make things right. As for the songs, I liked them, ‘Wake up’ was amazing and the others were fine but weren’t as memorable or emotional

Actually eyebright and lungwort do exist.

Not as good as Wall-e of Princess mononokee but It's better than the lorax and fernguly

This is another one I remember you watching lots as a kid. You liked it lots, as many other movies, and it is neat that you, from the perspective of the adult you have become, can now analyze these films so thoughtfully and insightfully on so many aspects of their productions.
