I beg to disagree. The DNA of KPop can also be traced to JPop and JPop can be traced to Western Pop and boybands like NSync, A1, BSB et. al. Therefore, KPop is basically Pop done by Koreans. SB19 is PPop, done by Pinoys

Since many people especially Filipinos doesn't know what does SB19 really promotes, let's get those misconceptions straight. SB19 is a Filipino boy group which promotes Philippine Pop (P-Pop) culture through music. They are not K-POP REPLICAS which most of the people think. SB19 promotes our own (Filipino) music. They are just TRAINED under Korean management. They just ADAPT the DISCIPLINE, the PRACTICE ETIQUETTE, and the TRAINING ROUTINE of Korean idols (which is good and more extensive than in the Philippines) but the music they PROMOTE is pure P-POP or OPM. I'm not angry hahaha. I just want to make this clear to everybody who does not know. Other expert A'Tin can corrrect me if I am wrong. And another thing, A'Tin, let's please respect other opinions without hating people. Audience in the field of music has diverse ears and taste. Moreover, let's love each other, you and me (IkaKo).❤️

Ikako is such a beautifully written song with such a genuine purpose. I just wish more people could see and appreciate that. Sejun wrote Ikako specifically for all the frontliners and essential workers who have sacrificed and are sacrificing their lives during the pandemic. Ikako is not just a song of hope for those on the frontlines, it’s for anyone, for those who are suffering or just need something uplifting to hear. Through Ikako and many of their other songs, SB19 hopes to give inspiration and strength to anyone who listens to their music. To anyone who still thinks that SB19 is unoriginal or are Korean wannabes, this song (and much of their work) proves that assumption wrong. As far as I’m concerned SB19 never claimed to be a K-Pop group and they’ve always advocated for the Filipino culture through their work. They want the best not only for their group, but also for their country. Josh and Sejun have repeatedly stated that through their group and music, they want to showcase what Filipinos are capable of, help the Filipino economy, and allow others around the world to learn more about the Filipino culture. SB19 wants to prove that Filipinos are just as capable as foreign artists and that Filipinos have the potential to compete alongside artists from all around the world. It’s disappointing to see fellow Filipinos judge and reject this group without even trying to learn about them or at least respect their purpose and craft. This group isn't here just to achieve their dreams, they're also working hard to break down barriers to help their fellow Filipinos. Why bring them down for that? How hard is it to appreciate those efforts? SB19 is the very reason why P-Pop and Filipino talent are getting recognized internationally on major platforms like Billboard and MTV. The rejections and criticisms from Filipinos are one of the very reasons why SB19 hasn’t penetrated the global music scene as quickly. They are continually raising the Filipino flag and many FAIL to see that because of close mindedness. ctto

SB19 actually has a very diverse fanbase in terms of age and gender. They have a lot of younger fans but they also have a lot of older fans, even some from the older generation, aunts, uncles, and grandparents like them. That might be because their songs are also diverse and explore a lot of genres including hiphop, ballad, house, dance pop. We all know that idol groups are generally marketed towards young female audiences, but the reason SB19 fans are diverse is that we don't idolize them because they are handsome or because they make us "kilig" (heart pound) but because they give us inspiration through their meaningful songs, which they write, arrange, choreograph, make and assign the harmonies. This song for example, is dedicated to the frontliners who have been working hard during this pandemic, and can be relatable to everyone who is suffering, especially with mental health. I hope you can check out their other songs, especially their ballad songs "Hanggang sa Huli" and "Tilaluha". I really respect your opinion and thank you for giving them a chance. It actually has a bridge part but maybe they filmed this even before Sejun (the guy you like who is their leader and main composer) wrote the bridge. It's actually my favorite part and was only performed during their performance at Bye 2020. Since you are not a fan of their upbeat songs, you can check out their ballad songs cause their harmonizations never disappoints. But their promotional song for Pepsi "Sundin Ang Puso" is very catchy tho. People say it sounds like a comeback than a promotional song.

This is my personal opinion. I was not actually fan of kpop music as well. Yes, their song are catchy, also their production value is on point. But at some point it lacks for me when they perform live I cannot feel the emotions when they sing. But this group SB19, at first I was very hesitant as well to watch, because they sound like kpop and they way they dressed is kpop. The more I watch their videos, the boys have definitely have talent, passion and soul when they sing live. They are created to this industry they are just be at point where they need to be under a Korean company to showcase their talent. Their choreograph and make their songs which make them outstand to other artist.

Lol our fandom is not just consists of teenagers. We also have frontliners, teachers, and even lawyers. 🙄

Im 43 and I love them sm , A'tin fandom consist of diff age bracket. Not just bec they are cute..its more of their talents and personalities.. And the meaning of this song is inspirational.

This song was made for the frontliners, to lift them up with all the things that's happening around. That mainly is the reason why it was made to be an upbeat song. So they can dance around, enjoy and shake off all the negativities. Ikako = ikaw at ako or you and me. It was written and produced by the Leader, Pablo, the one that you said you like. He is the main lyricist of the group. Btw, not all singing and dancing groups from asia are kpop. And I'm not even a fan of kpop. I think Kpop is mainly called that bcos they sing in Korean, so that is the biggest difference between kpop and SB19's genre w/c is Ppop or Pop. They write and release songs in tagalog and English only. But these guys are dreamers and they were lucky to have been trained with Korean discipline that aims to enhance their (filipino) born skills/talents. Thank you for listening to them. I respect your opinion but I will rather watch reactions from a legit music enthusiast. Someone who appreciates any kind of music even the “oooh” sounds because for me if you’re fund of music, music enthusiast or just loves to listen to music you must know how to appreciate any type/kind of music because music is not just for entertainment. i can definitely say SB19 is the King of adlibs. and their harmonization is on a different level. they all can rap, dance and sing. i'm a kpop fan for over a decade now but i haven't encountered a kpop group who is somewhat like them. SB19 is a unique group who shines on their own.

Respect your honesty, but I'm of the older generation that enjoys the "oohs and ahs" of SB19. Please do check-out their other performances because they are that good.

The original words is "ikaw at ako" which simply means you and i,, they'd just made a shortcut of it which is "ikako"

Ken has been my bias since then. Not just because of his talent but with his personality. But the other four are definitely my bias wreckers. This is my favorite song because of the message it gives. It was written by sejun the one who rapped the first part. And Ikako is a word from Ikaw at Ako which means you and me who will fight in this battle specifically the pandemic. It was written primarily for the frontliners but in this situation we fight for everyone. Stay safe❤️

Thank you for your honest reaction and I can understand where you are coming from. I'm not a person who typically likes KPop either (only a few songs by BTS and Girl's Generation but that's about it). Having said that I can confirm that SB19 is more Filipino than Korean. Try listening to their ballad songs "Tilaluha" (a song about struggling to move on from a break up) and "Hanggang sa Huli" literally translated to "Until the end" (a song about accepting your unrequited love for someone else). Also as a personal opinion: there are actually plenty of actors and celebrities here in the Philippines that are more aesthetically attractive than most members of SB19, but its more of their personalities that attract people to them. My bias is Stell because he is the heavenly vocals of the group. He's not as aesthetically attractive as Josh, but I like his humor and he always makes me smile.

The guy you said you liked is the one who composed that song during our strict quarantine period. He dedicated it to the Frontliners. Maybe the reason for the "oh" time in the song is where they showed the vids and pics of the frontliners in their first MV of that song. It is also shorter and no rap part before.

This I got to say, I'd watch MGN's content way back when M'Angel was still around. But for a Music Poducer/Engineer and generalizing Kpop with SB19. Music is univeral, nobody owns the genre like Pop. Nsync BSB also sings Pop and can dance but are they KPop? Hopefully in time, people will open their eyes and ears. Just because a boy or girl group can sing and dance doesn't mean they are KPop. Also boy or girl groups in general just because you don't like them and their music please stop dragging them down. They'd endured a lot of hardships and made a lot of sacrifices.

I knew Ovela before I became a fan of SB19 (A'TIN) and I watch his reaction videos most of the time. I'm actually surprised that he reacted to this one (considering his previous reactions to them), and I appreciate that effort. T'was a song dedicated to the frontliners, everyone actually, who have been going through a lot during the pandemic or just someone who needed a pat on the back. I really hope you turned on the sub if there was or searched the eng trans after you watched it. The 'Oooh' part may not be that pleasing to you but I believe its one part of the song that really brings peace to the audience(personally, it sets my mood), its easy to be picked up by young ones and even the older gen. The leader of the group wrote it purely to raise hope to everyone not having a great time. Its just my two cents. Appreciate your reaction, I'm glad you liked their music atleast.

This is a motivation song for everyone who suffered and going through pandemic. Sejun stated that in the first part. The 'ohs' and 'ahs' are related to our culture, that's something for cheering and make someone move from being static or hiding alone, like to come out from that sadness and be with us. And mind you, those style usually effective for adults here in our country than young people. Feel free to react but make sure that you still do your research when it comes the relation to culture like hello sociology. Btw, it's Ikako which is shorter term for IKAw at aKO which means in English as You and Me. The whole song encourage people to fight because we are in this TOGETHER. And I would believe that now you can relate the beat itself from the message. Yes they have voice, but you don't have the meaning behind that makes you meh as well reacting to their videos.

I’m just happy to see SB19 again on your channel Ovela and I’m glad you enjoyed this performance specifically. This song was composed and produced by Sejun(the guy with the long hair) during the midst of Pandemic last year. The 1st part of the video was just a message saying that they dedicate this song to all of us who had a tough time during this pandemic. I am still hoping that you will react to their ballads.
