I think Pablo wrote this when they were still under a Korean management; they were not given much leeway then and were made to do things that went against what they wanted, so they felt they were losing who they really were and what they really wanted. There was even a time when one of the staff, out of pity, sneaked them away to an amusement park so they could get away from all the pressure even for sometime (this is the reason why the carousel is symbolic for them and they used it in one of their videos). Now that they have put their own company and have free rein on their musicality, they feel liberated and the quality of their work has improved remarkably, and that’s the reason for their Freedom song.
Sino ang may tenga sa mga bulong ko? Answered prayer then and God used that staff that gave them a rest for a while in the carousell to regain their joy and energy.
I’m just learning more about them (new fan). True it can be interpreted so many diff ways but if it was written during that time w rigorous non-stop training, feeling ko a lot of K-pop artists and other foreign artists with such heavy burdens can and will relate to this. I suddenly thought of those who too their own l i v e s 😢
I thought it's gonna be a reaction video, it turned out to be a life coach talk, thank you very much. You have so many inspiring and encouraging words, thank you!
and this one made me emotional. From the dream of being successful to being lost in the relaization of their dream.. The transition of the song's meaning from beginning to the end.. One of the best songs I've ever heard.. Simple words but crazy deep meaning.. genius!
You are right sir, sadly some Filipinos still doesn't accept them as an artist. they are struggling for proving themselves to others..They were telling their stories and showing their true selves to us..We as in the fandom always there to understand because they are just humans, not perfect, just human.💕✌️👍♥️🤗🤩😍🥰
Like Jesus said himself, a prophet is not accepted in his own home town. Sometimes it's the people in your own home land that doesn't accept what you stand for unfortunately. 😬
I can relate to ILAW so much because of my series of post partum depressions, it's probably the song I want to sinb if really really wanted to connect to my inner self and cry my heart out
12:44 - Praise God for Pablo's gift. Pablo said that SB19 is NOT built first on talent but on STORIES. They tell stories. These stories may resonate to people and can give them comfort, courage, or support of some sort. No wonder, for each of their songs, people see a perspective that resonates with their own situations and experiences. Pablo has a gift of telling authentic stories meaningfully, tastefully, and creatively through melodies and poetries - with elements like figures of speech, rhymes, bars, and such. Honestly, the English translation is beautiful but I tell you, the lyrics in original language (Filipino) is even more artistic. The translation doesn't capture that. Nevertheless, it got the essence and the message that the song wants to convey, relatable to many people.
Very well explained and said. Not a lot of artists are gifted like SB19. Such a talented group of this generation. Their songs have deep meanings and messages that a lot of people can relate to.
It’s about their struggles in life from the beginning , ‘til they reached stardom but still their audience want some more , no satisfaction . The prize of success is very costly , they need to rest , the only thing they want is UNDERSTANDING ❤️❤️❤️😀👍🏼
Ilaw is pronounced as eel-aw it means LIGHT. This song is their battle cry when they were still part of their old management. At that time they were restricted in so many ways, and now that they are already self-produce they are now able to do whatever they want, that is why they also have a song Freedom to express how glad they are to finally able to take the path they want in their career. ☺️☺️☺️
love your reaction and all those inpts you gave about this song. Really appreciate reactors who value the message of the song. You have my Sub and like, will check out more!
Thank you…I Like your interpretations as they are relatable. #SB19 released this song at a time that I was struggling after having surgery for breaking my tibia and fibula. I had 25 staples for my incision to have a titanium L plate and 11 screws to repair my bones on my left leg. I was heavy with narcotics and that drug just brought me to a different world where I was not myself. I felt depressed and even suicidal. I cried for no reasons, I stared at the ceiling, light, walls then I got anxiety, my stomach ached, I was not eating, I had troubles and fears to go to sleep. I had constant visions and urges to jump off a roof. I felt like why am I living (helpless that I could not do anything as I heal) My body ached as I endured the most physical pain I had to endure. My mind felt tired and I felt lonely because I stayed only on my bed and didn’t see anyone. My husband slept upstairs while I slept in the guest room in fear of my leg getting hit while we sleep. He reminded me daily before he left to work that I was not to do anything harmful or crazy. I only left the house to go to my doctors appointment. I’ve always been a positive and strong minded person. I’ve been a peer counselor in junior high where I counseled peers my age that were emotionally handicapped. For the first time in my life, I experienced being on the other end. I realize how serious depression, suicidal and anxiety is. I was so afraid of me losing myself. I prayed and cried. With the grace of God, I’m now better and not feel as bad as I used to. I still have a long way more to heal mentally and learn to walk again. Maybe it was the narcotics, maybe it was the trauma I endured, or maybe it was just coincidental timing. What ever the reason is, I now have a deeper understanding and sympathy to those who battle the struggles in their daily life. I pray for those individuals to be strong, hang on and seek help for they are not alone. ❤ Thank you to SB19 for their songs. They’re lyrics and artistry through the melodies and choreographies heal many. 💯🎶❤️🔥🇵🇭🤙🇺🇸 #thestruglesarereal
Thank you for that sharing - be strong and you will be fine! You have already proven your strength! now you only have to continue your journey :) Sometimes it only takes finding ONE thing to make you happy, just ONE
Listening to your take on this and knowing Pablo does indeed draw from their real life experience as well as relate it to real world... I think this was written when they were still being managed. I was just watching their old interviews recently when they were talking to themselves doing performances they didn't like doing (but they had to) and they had to learn it overnight with no rest and the crowd didn't even seem to appreciate it -- so that's the part where the song says is this the price they need to pay, losing themselves. I think it was composed that time
You did great on trying to understand the song. It is a poem, added by music. A poem that has many interpretation. Depending on how the reader understand it.
My interpretation to this song is about mental health issues esp for men. They need someone to listen to them and confice them because society program us that men needs to be strong and not allwed to cry. If u actually google, there are lots of support for domestic violence for women but not on men. They face discrimination too.
It's amazing how just a lyric video can hit so hard! Pablo's lyricism hits so hard and yes it can be interpreted in so many ways. Thanks for the reaction! Liham (lee-ham) next. It means letter in English.
Your interpretation is on point.. Your right, this song can be interpreted in so many ways.. Love this song so much.. Thank you for you reaction and support..
ILAW Letter "I" pronunce as like indigo or india then "LAW" like "lao" or sound like "bow" and it means "light". Thank u again for great reaction sir.❤❤❤
12:44 - Praise God for Pablo's gift. He speaks from authentic experiences and observations. Match that with his talent for expressing that poetically. It has elements of creative writing like figures of speech, rhymes, and such. The English translation is beautiful but I tell you, the lyrics in original language (Filipino) is even more artistic. The translation doesn't capture that. Nevertheless, it got the essence and the message that the song wants to convey.
As always you really interpreted and explained it so it well. Hopefully you can watch them live on their US tour. Next pls check out their live performance of ILAW on Rappler's yt channel.Thank you
You're spot on - it can be interpreted in many perspective depending on how one relate to it.. Pablo is just so powerful as a lyricist and excellent in making and composing their songs. Anyway, Pablo said in one of their interviews that #PAGTATAG IS SB19 - Their struggles and experiences in their journey. As one seeing their journey, I can only support them watching their concerts, streaming their music and praying to God for their continuing success. May God bless you mahalima 🙏💙
In a lot of their interviews, there were times when Pablo and the rest of the members question themselves, "Is this even right, what we are doing?" - they referred to intances when they broke down because they had to sing in Chinese (Mandarin) and had to memorise Chinses lyrics of 6-8 songs by watching them on RU-vid because they were asked to perform them, times when they not only had to entertain but act as servers/waiters at events, moments when their creativity in their craft were limited and had to be sacrificed, etc. Perhaps there's more but these were just so of the things they were willing to share since they were still under another management company at that time. Recently, however, since they've built their own company - 1Z Entertainment - they mentioned in interviews that their Team makes sure that they get enough time to rest in between events and engagements. They also said that if they were still thinking who they are as SB19 in their previous EP, in their new EP, they are showing us who they really are. I believe the song ILAW reflects their struggles as artists being in the limelight and having to sacrifice their creativity, craft, and even identity in pursuing their dream.
I agree.. it's about their career.. ilaw/light is like fame or recognition. "Why wont u try opening the door that's not even close" is like hey we are here why can't u even see us, give us a chance let the world see us. They deserve that spotlight.
Hope you could watch them in concert live!! 🤘🔥SB19 ‘PAGTATAG’ WORLD TOUR 2023 🤘🔥 USA Chicago 07/21 Dallas 07/22 San Francisco 07/28 Los Angeles 07/29 New York 08/5 Washington 08/6 CANADA Toronto 08/11 Winnipeg 08/13 Vancouver 08/18 Edmonton 08/20 “MORE SHOWS TO BE ANNOUNCED”
