Imagine being not an fpv person and hearing "Yeah I was sbanging this juicey flick and ejecting my trippy spin to this sick rewind cause my ESC was desyning
Very nice video my friend !! Your are the best teacher , you explain very nicely what is the Sbang style, i never expect how people gonna love this style , we practice a lot on sim for be confident in real life , a lot of people think Sbang is random moove , but in fact is so technical and hard to fly like that , i am verry happy to see you explain all those things!! thank you so much 🙏
Yes, because everything we do is intentional and not something that happened randomly. I'm also laughed at by one or the other. but if you can do this flying style, you are so good at the reactions. it's not easy to learn and requires a lot of hours in the sim but from my point of view every minute was worth it!
Hey cool video 😁 About the rate, you dont need super fast deg/s. The most important imo is to have a very agressive center. Personally i use almost linear 800deg/s, it make the move more understandable by people 👌
Sure, i use currently 2.08-0.19-0.06. But like every style, rate are very personal and there are lots of others that can suit perfectly and that are maybe easier :))
@@JoshuaBardwell I'm running 800⁰ on pitch and roll but I'm more into the slower side of sbang which is more about finesse rather than speed. Feel free to check out my latest video.
Perfect timing on this video, I've been trying to learn this Sbang thing for a month now and being over 50 I'm finding my reflexes are my biggest hang up lol! Roiifpv videos are what really made it start to make sense to me. He's very good at just casually explaining what he's doing and the way he explains just makes sense to me anyways that and juicy Jay his videos are just hilarious not an ounce of seriousness in any of his and its refreshing. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series so us old men can learn together! Good job Joshua!
Hey that was awesome! Watching you learn a new style like Sbang after all the years you are in the hobby. If I can give you an advice for learning to Sbang, watch a lot of videos, like mines, Marius fpv, Kastyh fpv, Farouk, Digi FPV, crawar FPV, eagle FPV. This is the group of young guys doing it! Looking forward for new videos and improvements!
A lot of the appeal in Sbang - for me anyway - is proximity to the ground and perfectly leveled yaw spins (either inverted or not). It's commiting to aggressive low altitude tricks and resetting with an eject to gain speed and repeat. Happy to see you comment on and praise the style, you're such a cool dude :)
The eject will naturally dip (elevation) down a tad because your quad's nose is pointed at the ground. You follow through with the throttle as you level out to basically return to the elevation you were at before you started the eject. Drop the throttle and let the momentum do the work. That's a huge part of Juicy Sbang Sbang.
I know this video came out a while ago now, but I just had to say I really enjoy these flying videos of yours Joshua. You make me feel better about my own learning, it is so encouraging to see even an expert pilot like yourself having to work on your skills like this. 👍🏼 thank you!
It’s all about the momentum mate we don’t fly through gaps we project ourselves through gaps. Have fun it’s a very hard style to implement but super fun and you can’t go back after it’s implemented in your flying!
I really enjoyed your sbang tutorial. Thank-you. Problem is you learned sbang after already being a jedi pilot. lol what helped me was . "full throttle blip"' and then float straight back down and " catch". "full blip"' , "float" and "catch" . full blip and float down and catch. then, full blip, roll, float and catch. I just started doing that, and hopping around like a bunny and eventually i could blip forward. I think this is a great approach for people like me, that aren't a jedi pilot yet. lol i think you are the only one who might understand what the crap i am saying...lol anyhow, thanks for teaching me how to fly. i posted this same question in a Q&A
FPV is the closest we've gotten to virtual reality. Once it's the norm we won't have any issues transitioning into full-time VR living out of a life pod.
I always get bad comments for my sbang videos. " I can't see shit!". blah blah. Anyway, proximity to objects, surfaces, ground etc, really make this style exciting by communicating the speed. Punctuating moves with slow downs and speedups. It's quite addicting.
Basically to sbang you whip the quad to get zero throttle airtime, and that's when you do the tricks, preferably in a smooth motion, sbanging from one trick to the next.
I think that pitch locking and flicking it to a juicy flick or somethings contributes heavily to that sbang style. Besides the yaw spins and the rubix variations ive seen from these sbang pilots
@13:05-13:28 - Listening to the way you described sbang right here sounds like you are tasting fine wine or commenting on a famous art piece. That was awesome :)
There's something about this style that really does appeal to me, at least certain portions of the flying.. kinda has a flow I enjoy, and I already fly at higher rates anyway... hmm.. Worth putting the time in to learn anyway, since it'll only lead to better control over your quad in the long run. Looking forward to the rest of the series JB.
I always respect people's preference. Usually ignore all the better then talk, but pinch and high rates is always something I thought might mislead a newer piolot. 900 to 2100 is all workable in my mind. Pinch or highbred... Expo and curves can hurt, muscle memory works better with liniar patterns.... but that is all just thoughts...- Fly!!!! and do whatever. 7 years. :)
Nice to know what it's called. THIS is the style my wife doesn't like when I watch (if she's in the room). She enjoys videos with good flow but she hates the ones with the constant flippy (I get it). Admittedly, it looks technically spectacular. I learned several somethings today.
YAAAAAS... Sbaaaag!!! I didn't know what it was when I first saw it but someone was just flying In an open field and it looked so majestic. Sbang at 350 linear rates feels good for me though
There's also another sbang trick im pretty sure you'd love doing, the dirty roll... pitch forward a bit before you roll over a tree canopy and add yaw in the same direction as you roll, it feels amazing :D
Rates are like mouse sensitivity in a shooter game. You should be able to close your eyes and when you open them you did exactly the amount of movement you tried. While also not being to low or high for the style of game. They are personal and never should be copied only evolved.
Amazing video man, it’s a pleasure to see your interest in this style 😍! I suggest you to just find some comfortable rates (your stock ones are probably perfect already💪) and do A LOOOT of simulator ahahaha! I think LiftOff is the thing that helped me and all others the most to get better at this type of flying! Also seems stupid but, flying with music makes a hugeeee difference😂 Continue training man really interested to see your level going up💥💥
JB, you've got the gift to teach, I learned a few things today. I've been sbanging my head with it 😂, but your break-down analyses has taught me a few things . Looking forward to the next videos. Maybe I'll get the sbang thing down.😁
I’m a whatever your style is cool by me kinda guy. However…when sbang became popular I noticed very quickly it’s a style by pilots for pilots. No non fpv person I’ve ever met said “wow that’s so cool” literally everyone I’ve shown as I’m personally marveling over the sheer skill set of said pilot their reactions 100% of the time are “what am I watching?” “What’s wrong with the operator?” “is he having a seizure?” I tell them you have to be in the hobby to understand.
Definitely learned something!!! Just so happens i am working on this trick also!! I can do it backwards very good and also pretty good if i am skewed to the side but my brain and fingers are still trying to find the rhythm when doing it head on.. love the video keep them coming
Thanks so much! This is the kind of content I am waiting for! Yes there are a ton of how-to videos but JB does not hide the struggle to actually do it and that helps a ton! How about the top 20 tricks how to... every week a new one?! A lot of us fly alone and without content like this I would still fly at 100m watching the sunset for the 1000 time : )
I actually love this! I've been trying to find freestyle moves and definitions and possibly tutorials so I'm not just crazily flipping around or trying to emulate someone else. I'm sure someone has done this for normal freestyle but I haven't found one yet.
Great vid! I recently discovered sbang style and im wery interested of this style of flying so I'll be watching and hopefully learning something some day.
JB is developing new habits 🤦 it's another Era of Fpv again.. I can't keep up anymore. Compared to today, when I started 5 years ago, there wasn't a ton to learn 🤣 by the way josh. Incredible how far your skills are progressing.
Probably not going to learn something??! How modest. Totally not arrogant. Cool challenge and I love this style despite making me dizzy when trying to fly.
@@MRdeLaat Backflips are easier to start with mate. if you overshoot you just see more ground. If you take off from level ground, you will see your sky to ground ratio.. If you have lets say 60 percent sky when level just reverse that to 60 percent ground when inverted and the horizon catch will be perfect every time. Hope this makes sense..
Full throttle the whole time on the eject and as you pull back on the pitch it counteracts you falling and it brings your view centered then you let of the gas
I've always wanted to be able to fly like that didn't even know it had a name lol! Just figured those were the amazing pilot's and that I prolly won't ever get to that level but no doubt it looks amazing!!! Juicy too
Okay Joshua, I've got a real brain buster for you. I don't want your head to explode solving this, so if you can't then it's okay. Just reply with a frowny-face ☹️ okay here it is. You ready? My quad will be flying just fine, then all of a sudden mid-flight it will start twitching. This is usually triggered by hard flying or tapping into other objects. Once it starts twitching, it essentially loses power and will just slowly make its way to the ground no matter how much throttle I apply. Kind of like the PID is having a freak out. Once on the ground, if I disarm and then arm again the problem persists, BUT if I put it in turtle mode and do a once around, spinning all four sides with turtle mode, and then switch back to regular flight, it flies just fine until I either fly hard or run into another object again and then it starts twitching. Twitching. I've changed the flight controller and the ESC. Swapping out motors next. Can't figure out what the freak. So if your big brain has experienced this, then I would love, and probably many other people would love, the solution 🙂 maybe even an entire video about it?
to practise the snap ups on the horizen you could try just flipping to the horizen just in a hover and do that for 90 and 180 degrees if that makes sense because i think you need to work on flipping flat to the horizen and this is just a way that has really helped me and maybe in future try some rewinds but other than that i think your doing great. p.s the way i learned sbang was through peoples videos and just watching what they did in theior freestyle and made it my own the first and my favourite pilot i watched is JWEBB FPV but you do look like your doing amazing i cant wait to see what you will do:)
Hey JB, ever consider expanding into other things as far as your content? I ask because I could watch you do pretty much anything for hours and so could most others I am certain. Maybe you do have other things/channels going on that I am unaware of, if so tell me bout it. I love fpv and will forever be watching your stuff. Thanks again for all you do.
Can't wait to check this out after work. If ya wanna have a good laugh while watching a video lightheartedly mocking Sbang from a pilot that's actually really decent at the style, check out Jacuzzi Jay's Sbang video. Guys a nutter and an animal on the sticks.
1:45 - I like to do something similar only once I get going fast I'll do a quick punchout then kill the throttle, go inverted and face backwards coasting till right before hitting the ground.
I tried sbang on a different rates and it works after some adjusting of my hands. But I keep in mind that I need to pitch forward at about 1/3 of agressive throttle acceleration.
