With covid-19 disrupting in-branch banking, banks’ apps have seen a surge in new users. The State Bank of India’s (SBI) Yono app has reportedly been adding 70,000 new users every day. SBI chairman Rajnish Kumar told Mint earlier in September that the number of registered Yono users has hit 27 million at present against 20 million on 5 March.
As more and more first-time app users come on board, the chances of fraud also climb. Here are a few things that new users should keep in mind to avoid being defrauded.
The first step is to download the app safely. “Not all apps on Play Store or App Store are legitimate. Before downloading any app, go through reviews and do research on the developer. Register for SMS banking so that you get updates on banking transactions. This helps report fraudulent transactions quickly," said C.S. Sudheer, founder and CEO of IamCheated.com, a site that addresses consumer complaints for online fraud.

Without full atm card number + pin, no account can be created on YONO without visiting branch. If a customer share all his details like ATM Card number, pin, otp, passbook then its wholly the fault of the customer, even RBI shows tv ads regarding non sharing of such confidential information.

Faced a problem on 18 November evening. 2 step verification on WhatsApp was off at that time. Suddenly I started to receive message and call from many people claiming that I have sent them advertisement message. I didn't send any message and there was also no sent message on my whatsapp. Later I tried to find out exactly what happened. Chatting with other victim I got, yes they have received message message from my whatsapp account. They are not false. I didn't send them message and there was no record of sent message this is also true. So, someone hacked my whatsapp account and sent message and deleted those. After that event I uninstall and was trying to reinstall WhatsApp. Then after otp verification a writing came that your account is active on another device and account activation stopped. Later tried again this time it was successful. And immediately started 2 step verification on WhatsApp.

You shouldn't call this a fraud when person shares aadhar, pan ,otp and passbook front page. Yono is one of the best internet banking app. There are multiple security checks and passwords. But if you share so many details to unknown person then the this your own fault. It's like giving an unkown person your wallet and expect no loss. Also now yono has a new feature of sim binding. means you can only use this app on the phone which has your registered number in ur bank.

Always activate internet banking even if you don't need it and set a profile password in internet banking. Always activate your bheem upi and set a upi pin in bheem even if you don't use it.never send any sms to unknown numbers.If signal goes in your sim card for eg in jio, turant kisi doosre jio number ke signal check karen.if your account has above 1 crores, then keep the amount in two or three bank accounts and use iphone.Never share the 16digit sim card number to anyone.Use screen lock and fingerprint lock in your phone always.Never root or jailbreak your phone especially if your account has heavy amount.

One month before I went to deposit money in Bihar Katoria SBI CSP branch then they added my account to an APY without my permission and debited money from my account. Now every month They are debiting money from my account and the main problem is that that APY account details everything is wrong.

It's not easy to enable internet banking that easily..at the end of creating a internet banking ID in yono it asks for OTP from the registered mobile number with the bank..and message will be sent to mobile number that " internet banking is activated if it is not you deactivate here" SO NEVER SHARE OTP

इस तरीके से सिर्फ वही लोग फंसते है, जिनको उतना जानकारी नही होती है, सीधी बात ये है की कोई भी कभी भी कुछ भी मांगे तो देने का नही है सीधी बात, चाहे आधार नंबर, पैन नंबर, ओटीपी, बैंक पासबुक कुछ भी क्यो न हो, वैसे हमारे पिता जी बैंक में है, इसीलिए ये सब कलाकारियो से हम पहले से वाकिफ से वाकिफ है🙏🏻👌🏻

@@CyberSuraksha Sir ek fraud person ne army man bankar mujse mera aadhar card , pan card with my account number, IFSC code whatsapp par le liya hai ( lakin mera koi atm card nhi hai sath mene koi OTP nhi diya hai ) kya vo inka missuse karke mere nam par koi loan tho nhi le lega ya muje kisi loan me garanter tho nhi bna lega.
