SBMM Ruined Gaming... But Does XDefiant Need It? 

SBMM takes the skill out of the game. It removes the need and want to get better by placing you in a comfort zone.

Agree with everything. No SBMM is too good of a feeling and idea in today's FPS games. I'm praying one of your 3 options will generate a lifespan for this game and advertise a unique experience as opposed to modern shooters. Congrats in advance to your partnership! Even as someone who plays the game more casually, like, a couple hours a day if I get the chance, I really just prefer no SBMM because whenever I encounter a good player I'm like "damn I wanna get to that skill level" The only issue is whenever I get queued into a group of good players and just getting stomped, that feels shitty to play against. I can handle 1-2 really good players to play against, 4+ is too much

and one thing I hate about CoD's SBMM is that it makes the game stale even tho I'm loving the mechanics. Imagine everyone just running Akimbos as if their lives depending on it, they really have to fix the balance of the game and stop giving players crutches that breaks the game.

Good points. I think maybe they could change the welcome playlist for absolute beginners to perhaps go up to 50, but that's it.

As an older gamer who was very average at any shooters, I've got on the xdefiant grind. My k/D is barely 0.6 but im level 83. So if I was put in lobbies based on level I would still get stomped. I'm getting to the point where I have really improved but so is everyone else. I need SBMM for the same reasons you don't. Great vid.

I think eomm is the problem that makes people turned off to sbmm. I think sbmm can be tweaked enough to find middle ground for everyone. That said I agree with your take and that the ranked playlist will help out a lot if not fix the issue. I think it'll help with all the rage quitting too which still should be be punished hard

What is absolutely necessary is some kind of penalty for quitting a match(if you haven't joined a game already in progress). A 5minutes delay is something that other games like Apex use to discourage players from quitting a match(not in public matches unfortunately). I've lost count of how many games I played with constantly changing teammates because they join and then quit immediately after or if the enemy team is closing in for the victory. If you're not winning un the first half of the game no matter the mode you will lose 100% just because of this trend

Unrelated but I seen your vids the other day. My PS5 come today and XDefiant is downloading as I type this. You sold it to me as an old casual COD player

Now try to play XDefiant living on EUWest, the vast majority of the top 50 is there. My games are a fucking tournament every single time, my team mates are getting stomped and leaving constantly, letting me alone vs that psychos. Yesterday I faced the World top 1 on kills and his premade 6 FUCKING TIMES in 2 hours man, this is insane. Today I faced top 2 ont wo games in a row, being stomped over and over agains is the worst feeling you can have while playing videogames. I agree with the fact that SBMM is not really good, but man, non SBMM at all is just killing this game (At least on my region) because is making all the casuals and average level players quit due to frustration. We, random players, can only play 2 modes - HotShot and TDM, Domination and Occupy are just a hell full of world tops stomping everyone. And no, Lobby Balance doesn´t work if the enemy team is a 6 stacks (Which is pretty usual here) because it can´t break groups to balance a lobby. Try to join these server and play it just for a day, there is not fun, there is not reason to play this game anymore untill Ubisoft implement something to avoid this fucking sweatfest 24/7.

SBM is there to save people who are garbage at the game but want to be falsely gaslit in to believing they are good. Its great that its not there. No games should have it, but they should all have ranked Edit: on your point about game longevity, that is why there is a 1-25 new player mode. I think they cracked the case on this one. If you are still going 1.10 at level 25 then its a you problem and you need to improve

No SBMM => no casuals => all sweats in lobbies => same problem for above average players in SBMM, but less players overall. Hopefully season 1 will be able to bring casuals back, but they are rapidly disappearing from the game. SBMM retains casuals. Not sure if xD will survive financially on a F2P model without casuals.

The starter playlist until you are level 50 has sbmm for new players after that is just pubs you do well in some and bad in others . SBMN hurst casuals the most they have 0 progression in there skill and everygame will be the same playing against your self basicly . SBMM has no play ever . If you are so insanely bad every lobby you go in you are the bottom of the bottom just accept you are bad and get better . SBMM also makes the game a camping nightmare if you know everybody is at your own skill level you dont run around and gun fight peopl you sit in a corner and camp . Shilding the worst 1% so 99% wont have fun makes no sens . This noobs sorry to say it have to get better . New players already get a welcome playlist with sbmm to get a good the flow of the game

Im loving NO SBMM/EOMM. Im not gunna lie, i love stomping new players, but i also love being challenged by better players as thats where you feel your skill improving.

Why would you want SBMM in a causal playlist if you want that itch on competition there is ranked so idk what’s wrong with people. Generally speaking btw. Welcome playlist is enough if not you suck get better

i might have my issues with ubisoft but they have proven multiple times that how they use sbmm is done right pefect example is r6 yes they have had their problems and ranked isnt in the best place but i have played for 8 years in that time i went from being really bad to a slightly above average to the point when i moved to pc i was average cause of the difference between console and pc, ive been playing cod off and on for years like a lot of people but the sbmm has turned me away cause its not fun anymore with constaly jumping in to a pub game and having sweat more than i do when i would play siege, Xdefiant is proving a point that sbmm doesnt need to be in pub games and can still be fun. Xdefiant is the best arcade fps that has been released in years and im here for it all the way.

Called some player need stop asking games to hold their hand. u play against better players u get better. i started at level 1 only getting like 10 kills a game now i get 30 to 40 Called u not going walk into game and just be good. Need get their setting right and what gun work with attachment because at low level not many attachment yet.

I guess it depends! If XDefiant survives then I guess it’s fine, if it dies cause the player base disappears then it’s needed 🤷🏼‍♂️
