If your SC IO board with the USB/serial port stops operating over time I show you what to look for and possibilities.
It is possible to place some hot glue from a glue gun on the USB port to stop if from moving around as long as it has not been disconnected from the motherboard.

Hi, i am very new to plotter just about a week experience. i have a challenge with my plotter cutting a straight line through my vinyl until the vinyl is rolled out. This has got me frustrated because i am wasting a lot vinyl. Please what can i do? I am using the usb port and signmaster software. Please i really need your help.

Hello, I believe being new, the first and most important thing is loading the vinyl and doing mock runs. Basically, flip the vinyl over to the paper backing. Then use the pen tool to plot out how the cutter would cut. This way you can practice without cutting lots of vinyl. The biggest thing is loading it properly because if you're doing a say, 5 foot job that has long straight cuts needed the vinyl placement and pinch rollers are vital. When you load vinyl, go ahead and run it forward through the cutter 5 feet and see just how straight it comes out or it starts angling hard right away or after 1 foot. Make sure to give your project slack from the roll because the small motors can have a hard time pulling and this can also make your project misaligned and have bad cuts. I believe I do have a video or 2 on loading material and traction for vinyl cutters. Go ahead and try what I had described and let me know how you're doing.

Sir, I have a Seiki plotter it used to work properly but now it is stopping halfway through the cut. Sometimes i will send a work but it will not proceed to work or continue to cut some random lines.
@TheWorkBench

This could mean that the motherboard is failing, especially when the cutter results to cut out random lines or start also cutting unusual sbols. I would use the pen adapter instead of the blade, flip the vinyl over and let the cutter plot out the radomness as its working in order to see exactly what it is trying to cut. The only other thing that I can think of is the baud rate which many times is at 4800 if I am remebering correctly. Also I believe that teh Seiki plotter installs like a printer and does have a COM port associated with it. Many times people will not install the driver and it does work anyways but can cause issues down the road and start curring odd things. Make sure that the driver is installed and matches in the software too.

Unshielded USB cable can cause problems and putting a USB 2.0 device in 3.0 USB port can also cause problems. If it stops halfway think about what did you upgrade/switch in the time being.

Where can I purchase this part I need it for my unit USCutter doesn't have it in stock.

Hi Vanessa. Sorry for the late reply. Perhaps USCutter's Repair might have one available. You can check by calling: (425) 481-3555 and ask for the SC IO Board.

I know that this is very long ago but unfortunately I forgot to say that UScutter should have those boards under the Laser Point 2. They use the same I/O USB ports.

I apologize for the late reply. Was the cutter LCD showing 'now is cutting' but does not respond? If so, unplug the USB cable and turn off the cutter. Make sure the program you are working with has the job canceled. Then plug in the USB and turn on the cutter. That should help. If the LCD is actually flashing that would be a different issue such as the connecting ribbon cable. If you can control the cutter while the screen is flashing its either LCD or ribbon but should not be the motherboard.

Hi Ramon, I understand that you are frustrated due to not having the cutter up and running like it should. I hope that I can help you out with another alternative. If the USB port is damaged and not working at all it is possible to use the 9 pin serial port with a USB adapter. USB 2.0 to Serial (9-Pin) , normally can be found in local stores with electronic departments. Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes or so. I believe that you have then already called USCutter and asked for the part. I did not see out of stock yet but perhaps the website is not accurately reflecting the item count. uscutter.com/io-board-for-sc-series-laserpoint-ii-vinyl-cutters/ Many times they will have a used/part taken from a down cutter that can not be fixed from RMA's. The rules may have changed since I was there. We would try to cover customer needs with those parts at a cheaper price until we could get in our new shipment from over seas. Its possible that those parts do not come in as much as they normally would back in the day before all these parts/product shortages. The serial to USB connections would be Tripplite, Keyspan, Prolific, Sabrent, Dtech or Startech. They are normally from 9-15$ and will keep your cutter up and running in the meantime until more parts come in to USCutter, With these adapters, you normally will have a disc or be able to download the driver from the website. It takes about 10 minutes to install and you are back in action. Was the IO board damaged by the USB cable being tripped over, wear and tear or another incident? If the USB port on the IO board is still intact, it can be pushed back in and you can use a hot glue gun to make sure that the USB port does not move once seated.

@@madridmoncho Hi Ramon, After looking at both the SC2 and SC IO Board they look exactly the same. They both have the 16 pin connector to the motherboard, 9 pin serial port and then USB. The SC and SC2 cutters are both made by LIYU overseas and USCutter gets these IO Boards from the same company too unless something has changed. I am 95% sure they are the same. I would ask the tech to just do a quick comparison to make 100% sure. At times, I have seen the same picture for 2 different cutters. Because on the site, one has a metal mounting bracket and the other does not and look the same. If you are loading the drivers for the serial to USB and then inserting the 9 pin to the cutter, checking in the device manager, you should see 'COM' which normally has a number out to it Here is a video example below. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vsb2k1etImg.html I am sure you have done this before. Once the driver is loaded you will not see a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside. The driver will pickup and install it quickly. However, if you have done all of this properly and in order....driver first, serial to USB, plug into the cutter and then turn on the cutter, cutter to computer, it should be flawless. If however, in the device manager, if there is an 'unknown device' and no matter how many times you load the driver, restart the computer, replug the USB it remains 'unknown device' it is possible that not only the USB is not working but also the 9 pin serial port. Its possible that you may need to double check the serial to USB install because Windows likes to install its own drivers. Just go tot he device manager, type 'dev' in the search option and you'll see it. Just uninstall that COM port that probably shows 'COM3' or so. Right click on it in the device manager and uninstall. Reinstall the driver again from the CD/website before plugging it into the computer or cutter. Which adapter are you working with? If you have a long USB, try to just use a short one. If its too long it won't communicate correctly during setup. I just want to make sure you get the correct part 100% also. Its been a while since I have worked at USCutter.
