Scalextric Digital or Arc Pro, What Should I Choose [Slot Car Racing]

Hi and welcome to Hobby World. This time I need your help... I'm going to build a digital Scalextric slot car race track and I'm considering if you should be the Scalextric Digital or the Scalextric ARC PRO. As I know nothing about these systems I would appreciate all the feedback I can get so if you have any experience with either of these please let me know down in the comments.
I'm also curious about other scale 1:32 brands digital systems so fire away in the comment field if you have any experience or opinions on the matter.

I have decided that I want to build a digital slot car track with scenery and everything, but I kind of need some help with which system to choose. I was so lucky that I got my hands on a used Scalextric ARC PRO and I had a Scalextric Digital stored away. So if you have any experience with any of these systems please take a look at the video and let me know what you think (It's really short, I explain what I need help with) down in the comments. I appreciate all the feedback I can get 😊 So far I have mostly worked with analog tracks and I have a basic understanding of the digital systems. Best wishes to you all, can't wait to start racing a bit digital. I'm also interested in hearing about other 1:32 brands that has digital systems so shoot away (I might end up building another track in the future 😊). Ideas for track layouts (or pages where I can find some) are also appreciated 😁

Thanks, I'll make sure to post an update when I get there. My slot car projects are mostly done during summer as my racing room is way to cold during winter

Carrera is popular in the US. We have 3 tracks locally. I made several videos to help people with Carrera. But I do not have any info on the other brands.

Thank you for your comment. I have looked at Carrera, looks like a great system. Most of the tracks I have been able to find is the Scalextric so I'm going to give those a try. But It's not impossible that I'm going to build a Carrera track at some point in the future, really love the look of their tracks.

Both tracks will fit together, The only difference between the sets will be Powerbases, your McLaren set uses the older version of digital power base and the arc pro is Scalextric latest digital powerbase which can change from digital to analogue via a small switch at the side of the power base.

I chose Scalextric digital Arc Pro for 2 reasons 1, it's 1/32 and 2, because of the switch on the side of the base I'm able to switch from analogies to digital. Carrera as good as they appear to be doesn't have the switch although I believe they maybe looking at it in the future. I only have a small space so my table is on a 1200mm x 2400mm so with Carrera being wide enough to run 1/24 takes up to much room for my situation. If you have the room and want to run 1/24 or 1/32 and not wanting to run analog cars then Carrera would be the way to go. I should add the there are black boxes available for $200-300 that will switch Carrera track to analog if you want. I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I just tested the ARC PRO this weekend and I'm very satisfied with it. Also tried running analog cars on the track, worked flawless. So now I'm just looking forward to actually planning the track I'm going to build :) Might take a look at Carrera when I have finished this ARC PRO track as I would like to try 1/24 scale racing.

I personally use Carrera as I want to use 1/32 and 1/24 but I think you will be happy with any digital set. Love your channel mate

Thanks for the feedback. I have decided to go for a Scalextric ARC PRO setup with scenery and everything, going for a clean and sharp looking setup that's fairly easy to make but looks great. Sort of like a modern F1 race track :) And after that I'm most likely going to build a Carrera track as I was really intrigued by the 1/24 scale possibility.

Carrera will allow enough room on the track to accommodate 1:24 scale cars. After running digital 1:32, you may find yourself wondering how 1:24 digital cars run, so if you have Carrera, you will be able to do so. Speaking from my personal experience, i LOVE both scales and am glad i made the initial decision. Both are such unique driving experiences. Whichever you decide, i will be following your journey, so have fun and i wish you all the best!

Thank you so much for your feedback. Carrera sounds like a really nice system, when I have finished this Scalextric "adventure" I think I'll take a closer look at building a Carrera track. Is it possible to connect some kind of software/PC to a digital Carrera track to display race results on a screen?

Yes! Carrera has their own app for racing, but Smart Race is definitely the way to go. For a very small price, Smart Race will have everything you've ever dreamed for managing races, qualifying, practice, etc. You can even keep an inventory of all your cars and their digital settings, a history of all of their lap by lap times and track records. It will allow you to have optional weather events, where drivers will need to go to the pits to put on their rain tires. I can go on and on, there is so much, and it is absolutely fantastic. Just so you know, I don't work for Carrera or SmartRace, Lol. I only just love them!

@@All-ScaleSlotCars The Smart Race soft sounds incredible, I'll take a look at it and then I will most likely build a Carrera track sometime next year. So far I need to finish the "Drag Race" track and the Scalextric ARC PRO track I have started 😁 Just browsed a bit around and couldn't find that much Carrera stuff here in Denmark, it was mostly Scalextric. But then again I'm living in a small country 😊

There is 1 piece of info. You left out that is needed for a recommendation. Is it the six car power base or the 4 that comes with your set? They are distinctly different .
