Back in my younger days I helped an old timer up here in Maine lobster and drag for scallops. There is a trick to shuck scallops. I would do a bushel basket during the drag. When you get the hang of it, it’s fun and fast. Great video, oh and up here there shells are about the size of a small dinner plate. Much easier to shuck the bigger they are

Crush some of the shells and feed them to the chickens. The calcium will make the egg shells harder and they will help the chickens grind food.

The bronze colored one is a female scallop... they transition from female to male after a certain age. They also can reproduce all on their own too. Those scallops are bay scallops as far as i can say but theyre alot larger than the farm raised ones i used to see at my store that i worked at... and yes i applaud you on the amount of work you put in cause it is alot of work to gather them suckers. Great job as usual kelly and gabe on assist! Love you guys!

The scallops y'all caught are Bay Scallops, the one's in the store are usually Sea Scallops. Scalloping is way more fun than scallop cleaning. I find a beer per every 20 scallops shucked is a fairly good ratio. Unless you're having docktails then it's roughly 3 scallops per ounce of mixed drink. Remember gang ratios matter.

Don't feel bad Kelly, because I've been in Florida for 53 yrs, and I finally learned that scallops swim around only a couple years ago. I always assumed they just scoot along the bottom slowly. BAY Scallops are one of my favorite sea food dishes.

I use a thin spoon with the edge filed if they don’t open you can get in the edge of the shell. When you take em off the ice they will open. They can break the skin clamping onto your hand. I see a lot that are yellow never knew why.

I watch to foraging/fishing channels in the UK and they find them near rocks and hiding in the sand. They are BIG ones though! (the size of an open hand..) After they catch them, they sometimes bring them up to the beach and cook them there. Adding garlic butter, hot hot sauce, etc. to them. Prior to cooking they clean them out and just cook them in their shell.

Loved watching you catching them! We have Sea scallops and Bay scallops here in Maine. The ones you caught are Bay scallops I believe, they are smaller sweeter, more tender. I will say, I feel you overcooked them though! hard to watch them with so many in the pan at once, its worth it to cook a few at a time and babysit them. thanks for sharing with us!

I love scallops and I have had abalone and claim lobster and crab are all good eating. The smaller scallops you guys caught are BAY scallops. Those big ones they sell at the store are sea scallops. BAY SCALLOPS ARE THE BEST, THEY TASTE SWEETER!!!

The deeper you get the bigger the scallops get. You need a net bag to put them in and don't come back to the boat until it's full.

If you think that water is cold you should come water ski here in Wisconsin 2 weeks after the ice goes off the lakes thats a little chilly.
