I worked in tech support for an internet provider and got a call from an employee at that pawn shop, this was before the show began. I said I needed authorization to help him from owners as the father and son were on my data. The employee said "you really don't want to talk to the owners. They are not very friendly". I helped him with the problem.

5:44 - This is not a scam, the guys wants $2,500 and knows the pawn shop is going to beat him down so he started high. That's negotiations 101, and provided the bike was not a counterfeit or stolen he wasnt scamming anyone - if that's the case Les scams every one of his customers by listing one price and negotiating with buyers/sellers to seal the deal. Funny when the shoe is on the other foot how much you dont like it....

In one episode, as a customer was being thrown out, the back of his shirt was accidentally pulled up by the bouncer and you could see the wireless mic attached to his belt. Ever notice that the voice of the bouncer and the person being thrown out stays at the same volume even as they are moving away from the camera?

this show is for people who genuinely believe a business would be run like this. i get it’s called “hardcore pawns” so they have to live up to the name but golly i watch Pawn Stars and it’s wildly better, you actually learn about historical artifacts or super cool collectors items and while it may also be rehearsed, the guys are always professional and respectful towards people. this is just a family of morons who are allowed to act tough and be mean cause a camera is on their face telling them it’s okay.

They have to honor those pawn tickets regardless of who brings them in so long as they pay to redeem the goods on the tickets by paying the loan amt plus the interest. That is the law. The law does not discriminate where the person who is holding the tickets was standing when they purchased the tickets from the original borrower. So the very last deal the Pawn Brokers were breaking the law. That is the law in Texas anyways.

The pawn shop is responsible for authenticating the transaction. Dude did not need to give the 5k back, and the pawn shop then threatened him...the only people going to jail would be the pawn shop if this wasn't scripted.
