I love that scanlan went into this with the plan of starting a massive fire, without anything to make a fire with. Not realizing, and subsequently discovering he has a potion of fire breath and proceeding to fucking TORCH everyone and the whole place. Amazing

I love that canonically some form of dnd exists in exandria. And also let me guess the guard that dm’ed is matt.

That “You can’t get this on network tv” line is so fucking Meta now it may as well have been delivered by Ryan Reynolds in full Wade Cosplay

I love that this is how Scanlan gets the Polymorph spell, as well as completes the Lightning Bolt spell. All he needs now is his trusty Counterspell 😉

Not exactly how it happened in the game but it perfectly captures how the Scanbo scene was basically Scanlan failing upwards and I just love it. 👌 Made me look at my newly-minted bard character in a whole new light.

Scanlan singing the spell scroll reminded me a lot of Jack Black's musical shenanigans. Love it.

It's impressive how many things they manage to squeeze into the show, in slightly different ways. Even Keyleth's rant in his head about his "i can do this by myself" attitude is shown as Scanlan questioning himself as he approaches.

Great energy at the table too as they are all egging him on "I should probably leave...but come on, I'm a triceratops, I gotta have some fun first, right?!" "You could probably take a couple hit points, right?" "Right??"

I love Matt's expression at 0:23 when Sam says "I turn in to a Triceratops". I pretty sure every GM or DM of any system has made that face at least once with their players...

The only thing I'm a little sad about is that scanlan didn't use the hand to push Duke Vedmire off the roof.

The fact that Scanbo name came from Sam wearing the tie on his head after he took on the house on his own

What's really interesting is that Sam and Travis wrote the 7th episode. So, I'm really excited to hear their thoughts on this scene and the episode in general during the watch party next week.

I'm genuinely a bit mad that they nerfed this moment so much for the show. In the game scanlan essentially won without taking real damage. It was utterly nuts.

I would've fucking loved it if in the series Scanlan tried to Polymorph into a Triceratops but instead turned into a Stegasaurus

I think the guards were playing "paychecks and paperwork" or PnP it's a game where they can step away from their fanciful world and into a more stabilized realm of reason and responsibility

This moment was the first thing I thought about when they announced the Briarwood arc was going to be animated. It has lived rent free in my head for years, and seeing it happen, so brilliantly animated was such an awesome treat.

As someone who did not hear about critical role before watching Vox Machina, I am blown away how well they ported the original D&D scenario into the show. This show really is groundbreaking.

I remember watching this live on stream and it was epic... It inspired my first Critical Role fanart. They somehow managed to make it even more epic!

Oh my God, they really pulled the triceratops spell. AWESOME!

I'm amazed by Sam's improv here, it was so much fun to watch. But also can we talk about how Marisha looked so pretty this episode? She's practically glowing.

SOMEHOW, seeing Sam in a shirt and tie makes me more anxious than his usually weird attire

I've been waiting for this scene since I knew the Briarwood arc was getting animated

When Scanland sang the spell it was absolutely insane the chorus and his voice literally shivers watched that moment like 20 times back I love it so much

What find even the most funny, is at 5:22 when Mett announces the Goliath Commander coming up on the roof everbody is like "Ohhh Nooo, better you get out there" But Sam (Scanlan) face is filled with pure Joy and excitement, makes me laugh everytime :D

i loved how they animated Scanbo, but they did make interesting alterations. Scanlan was inside the house when he drank the potion of fire breathing and that happened first. he defeated Vedmire by "Scanlan's hand" (they can't use the term "Bigby's hand" because Wotc haven't allowed them to use copyright material - yes, i know that's crazy) and lightning bolt, but Bigby's hand didn't force Vedmire off the roof and gently let Scanlan down, providing him with the coolest possible exit. it was awesome and different, but i'm not sure it was as good as the way Sam improvised it. the impact in TLOVM was also slightly diminished by the choice to intercut Scanbo with what the rest of VM were doing in Whitestone, although cinematically that makes perfect sense. part of the joy of Scanbo on stream was how the sequence built with a series of crazy choices and lucky rolls. however i did love how in TLOVM they provided more obvious motivation for Scanlan to attack the house single handed by the other members of VM saying "oh, he's useless, it's far too dangerous for him to provide the distraction alone"

I must say i watched the entirety of the Legends of Vox machine season 1 and its a real masterpiece. Its probably one of the best if not the best animated series I've ever seen, the high's the lows, the banter in between and filled with captivating action and excellent story. The hilarious nat 1 leading to splendid moments such as having them talk about cursed doors etc. I really loved it.

I love how uncontrollable and volatile that dragons breath potion was lol

The game session was more epic, less randomness and more strategy and playing his cards right. Sadly, it felt Scanlan was more Lucky than brains, and Scanlan is pretty smart.

As soon as I saw the title of episode 7 I freaked out. So good haha

As much as I like the show and truly admire and respect the adaptation, and how cool it looks... Listening to Sam and Matt play out that scenario at the table was absolutely the most epic moment I've listened to so far. It was so epic, moment after moment of the randomness Sam found on his sheet. What a fucking legend

I'm very new to this (just finished Legend of Vox Machina) and I can already tell when Sam smiles he's up to some kinda shit.

I cannot believe I forgot about tHE FUCKING TRICERATOPS!!! Watching the animated version yesterday was amazing! Definitely one of my favourite Scanlan moments, I was legit one step from rolling on the floor laughing at this episode.

“Don’t forget to tip your server” as a reference to Sam’s character Slaughter Grimm in the Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood campaign was the icing on the cake!!

I was wondering if Vedmire’s burn scar was a reference to GOTs The Hound. Seeing as vedmire is voiced by Rory McCann. Or it could just be a coincidence 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really hope they pay homage to Vax's rolling coat rack he took into castle Whitestone somehow.

Probably my favorite moment is campaign one. It's what sold me on scanlan and after this he was my favorite, then he broke my heart, then he was my favorite again.

There was a crotch lightning bit in the stream as well but it happened during the undead army part.

Haha even though it played out differently in animation I can totally see why. The pacing and visuals would have been out of sequence and have less of a kick had it been animated exactly as played. Equally hilarious, and equally Scanlan 👏

In the show they made him less of a badass like yes he was making it up as he went and had some failures but he was so much cooler in the actual episode then Scanlan in the show was

Thank you for the blending of these two events. I remembered watching this episode with my mouth hanging open. All I was thinking was, my next character is going to be a bard. Also, I remember watching there was a stegosaurus in there somewhere, but I had forgotten Matt did not have a triceratops mini so he went with the steg. Good times. Thanks for the memory. Bards are badd-ass, play one today!

I love the little moments they add that only ppl who have watched theming playing get like Dungeons&Flagons

They actually write the script for the series live, while also rolling the dice on which everything depends. This is super cool.

This show's level of violence is amazing and I'm here for it.

I wish the series followed a little closer to the game. This was Scanlan's big moment.
