In this video….SCANDALOUS TALES OF WORLDLY JEWELS….Nanny shares tales of the relentless century-old pursuit of diamonds, rubies, emeralds and baubles from Queens, Kings and world celebrities. She also has brought out her 70+ year collection of both sentimental, gifted and inherited pieces and her most favorite thrifted finds. “Each piece of jewelry must have a story attached to it”, she adds. “It not only adds value to the jewelry but , more importantly, brings cherished memories to those who eventually inherit it!” And she DOES tell those stories as she shares her bits and baubles! Laugh and smile with her and enjoy the video ! 😁 Be sure to check out her older videos (3) of the history of her jewelry collection…listed in the description box under this video. ❤️

You wear all your jewelry well. I’m going to tell you a non-pity party story. When my mother passed I inherited around 50,000.00 dollars worth of diamonds, rubies and pearls. When my children were 8 and 11 my ex-husband left me for another woman. He didn’t pay child support and I went through Child custody services in Georgia. It was horrible! I would get one check and he would move and the whole complicated mess would start over again. I had been a stay at home Mom do I had no income coming in after he left. I had to sell my jewelry one piece at a time as needed to pay groceries, housing etc. I don’t want anyone to say that this story is so sad. I’m just glad I had the jewelry no matter how painful it was to sell. My children were counting on me so I did what I had to do. I’m not fond of jewelry now. I own some costume jewelry that I wear to Church. I really had a hard time letting go of her first wedding set from 1945. Platinum vintage so beautiful. Got a good price and I had to buy Christmas for two children. They are now 36 and 39 and absolutely no regrets. Plus three beautiful grandson’s. I love you Mary Ellen and Moosie. Keep the video’s coming. I’m upset over all the suffering in the Ukraine so I need something positive to focus on.✝️💕

We married in 1976 and it was the height of Southwest jewelry. Our rings were bought at a flea market type shop. They would go to SantaFe and buy the pieces and bring them back to Our area. My husband bought me some beautiful pieces. My favorite pieces were our wedding rings. Mine is a wide silver band with inlaid turquoise and coral stones. The stones are in an irregular pattern and it is beautiful and very different from any other bands I have ever seen. I still get comments from strangers that notice it after all these years. My husband’s was not as wide and about 15 years ago it actually wore into. Of course it couldn’t be fixed. Silver is a soft metal and it wasn’t unusual for that to happen. You have some beautiful pieces and I know your children will be happy to keep the pieces to pass down to their children. I enjoyed the stories today.

I just love your jewelry and especially the stories attached to the pieces! You have such a beautiful collection of many varied designs! I, too am partial to jewelry, namely the Southwestern turquoise and silver and have been accumulating pieces over the last probably 10-15 years. Bracelets, earrings, necklaces...Yes to all!! I truly enjoyed this video and had watched your first one that was outside, in fact, that was when I found you on RU-vid and have been with you ever since!! What a fun and informative video today, Nanny! How I wish I could scoot over to the cottage and polish all your jewelry…it’s my favorite thing to do. One little suggestion: when you do them all polished and shined up…store them in plastic bags getting all the air out that you can ….and they won’t tarnish again! Bytheby….still waiting for the loveseat recliner picture of MOOSIE enjoying it!! Still waiting……🤔😬……

Oh! I did enjoy this. A few years ago, the mood struck me and I gave a few of my granddaughters rings (I think 33 of them) I still have a plethora of them. Prior to that I gave away lots and lots of watches at one point. Most have a story which I’ve not taken the time to tell. I love jewelry I have so many necklaces, bracelets, earrings, broaches, etc. Many were costly and some are worthless just things I like. Lately I seem to wear the same loved items over and over and leave the rest alone. I have some of my Mothers jewelry which I treasure. One of my grandfathers left me a small inheritance and I decided to buy a beautiful gold necklace with it as a keepsake to remember him and his generosity. FUN!! I will rewatch this video again, soon. I’m sure your children are glad you recorded this so they will know the stories pertaining to your beloved jewelry.

Good morning Nanny. Thank you for reminding us of all the stories related to jewelry. The scandals and superstitions surrounding some are very interesting. You not only have a beautiful collection, but wonderful stories to accompany each piece. I love your puffy sleeved denim jacket. Shame on the IRS for confiscating Marlene Dietrich’s jewels! On the dock no less…lol. Marie Antoinette’s diamonds…WOW! I think that your mother’s pins might be stick pins to be worn on a dress or lapel rather than hat pins. I have a collection of hat pins and they are longer. It is both a funny and sad story that you were dropping crystals at Colleen’s wedding. You needed a small child following you around, picking up the crystals, lol. Your gypsy ring is beautiful. You and Moose continue to entertain us with your colorful life stories. It was wonderful to see Moose’s Christmas gifts again. Nanny, you have a great sense of style and know how to pull off the larger pieces of jewelry. My husband loved to give me jewelry. I have a copper necklace and earrings set that he bought me soon after we began dating. Every time we went to Las Vegas he would buy me black diamond earrings and necklaces. I have put notes with some of my jewelry, but you have showed me that I need to tell more about the pieces. I am looking forward to your St. Paddy’s Day video. Perhaps with a recipe, I hope. Blessings to you both, love, Sharon

@@crushingtheir80snannyandmoose Your pins are gorgeous and so very special because they were your mother’s. They were popular from 1830 to 1920 to hold a gentleman’s cravat in place. However they were originally created in the 17th century for the military. In 1820 England, parliament passed an act that they could only be sold two days a year, January 1st and 2nd. This was due to the fact that people were buying them from France. So in 1832 a machine was patented in America that allowed the pins to be made more quickly and easily. By 1890 women were wearing them more. In 1909 due to the suffragette movement, a bill was passed limiting hat and stick pins to 9” or less. They feared that they could be used as weapons. You may remember that Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot always wore a lovely stick pin. (There is a story there too!). Wouldn’t it be wonderful to know who had worn your mother’s pins and on what occasion. We can only imagine…

When you spoke of laying your jewellery out on the bed, you reminded me of a story Richard Burton committed to his diary, which was published posthumously: Elizabeth had been unnaturally quiet for some time. Wondering about the reason why, Richard called out to her, and asked what she was doing. "Playing with my jewels", came her reply from their bedroom. She, like you, would lay her jewels out on her bed. And she would play with them as a child plays with beloved toys. Nanny, I must have spent many, many hundreds of hours watching RU-vid... and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a RU-vid video so much.

Hi Nanny. Just Loved your Vlog. So Entertaining and Educational. I have Already gave my Daughter’s and Grandaughter’s My Diamond Jewellery. The Grandkids can wear the Jewellery when they are older. I Love Rings, like yourself Nanny, and would buy loads of Diamondique Rings off QVC. A few of those rings have been given away too. Now, I wear Jewellery that Both Family and Friends have given me. Same things Every day. Your Denim Jacket looked like a Designer Piece Nanny. You looked Wonderful wearing it. Much Love, Cathy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 xxx

I’m watching you right now but I can’t wait to tell how damn cute you look in the jean puffed sleeve jacket. You look so adorable. You brought back nostalgia. My mother was a beautiful woman. She would have been able to wear that outfit with the grace you do. Oh, btw, the comment you made about maybe not for you because of your age. NO! Not my Nanny. You don’t consider age when you style. You must remember that you are talking to millions. What you say goes a long, long way. Maybe you don’t prefer ragged denim but you look great. And I know in my heart you would not buy your wardrobe considering your age. My mother on the day she died was wearing 501 Levi’s jeans and a beautiful cowl neck red sweater. She was beautiful inside and out as you ate. I love you and Moose and I enjoy you each day. Thank you for making my and my husbands life better. God bless us all!♥️

Thank you, Maxine….you always have such great things to say…and in such a cute way, too. I did instantly LOVE that jacket when I First saw it on-a youngish gal on YT….in fact the next morning at 7 am I drove to Walmart to get it….no luck….it is only sold online. I wa s afraid it might be too small but I ordered it and it came the next day…funny…how something just strikes you and you relentlessly track it down…Thanks for the love, Maxine…❤️

@@crushingtheir80snannyandmoose Nanny, your jacket took me back to thoughts of my sweet mother. I remember mostly wearing Levi jeans. She wore tight straight skirts with a little slit at the side or back or full skirts. These were worn with silk blouses. She made most of her and her children’s clothes.

Nanny you look wonderful in your Jean jacket and the western necklace. What great stories I’ve been lately trying to decide who would get what ,especially my mother’s jewelry do you have any suggestions for me.

I think that’s a personal decision, Concetta….and a hard one, too…I guess just try to give what to whomever it seems to,suit!❤️

Interesting to hear the stories of your jewelry, I'm sure there are many more. I was told by an antique dealer the stories make things more valuable, so I always have my mother jot down facts about pieces she plans to give me. And I see someone has already corrected you on the name of the fertility god, Kokopelli - living in West Texas I have spent a lot of time in New Mexico & he is everywhere 😉. Thanks for another fun video! I have a question: How do you store your necklaces to keep them from tangling? Are they in separate boxes or do you hang them?

I hang most of my necklaces, Candy…I have used pegs and hooks and boards on walls and in closets….some are in plastic bags and every once and a while I let grandkids do the untangling..you were= smart to have your mom jot down the stories…my mom did, too…thanks for sharing, Candy…I had a lapsed moment on the pronunciation of Kokopelli’s name ! ❤️
