She recently released a folk album called Folkesange, if I remember correctly, it has a full version of this song along with a few other covers and original songs
Lmao, I was 100% thinking it was a hurdy gurdy, then I was like, wait, there's no spinny bit. It has notes that you push down sorta like an accordian, but oh gosh, you use a bow too, and it sounds like a violin a little. I truly love this odd hybrid
I've never seen an instrument like this...has such an unique sound. Her voice is lovely. As others have commented, I wish this video was longer. Beautiful!
@@Passioakka It´s not clear where it came from, but it seems to have been quite popular around europe in the middle ages, and thankfully survived in Sweden.
List to Folksaenge from her. It's an amazing album with lots of songs like that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c277UL4iAC0.html Worth a buy. :D
bro dont forget its your own culture. norse culture is directly descended from old germanic tribes. norse mythology is just an newer version of odinism wich took place in germany. have some pride in our people broder
@@JessR0416 Thanks for posting the link. I've purchased the full song and others by Myrkur as well. Although not what I expected from this clip, she's quite an inspiring artist and I'm listening to her other work now.
Btw, it’s called a Nyckelharpa, as it says. I played one a few days ago and when I was just jamming on my guitar I might’ve cracked how to play a nyckelharpa good. I’ll try that next time I’m there
@UCEqn0hhI933dQVm_T9t1L8Q How does it feel to live in a degenerate city where crime and rapes happen on a daily basis? Even if I did in fact live in my mothers basement, that would be a more pleasant option than a concrete box filled with strangers.
when i listen north music i literally want to cry. i'm feeling it in my blood. but i'm from Turkey and like you said no one is from north in my family. but i feel it i literally cry when i listen, when i see scandinavia
I always Imagined Valhalla to be sounding more like a Happy band of drunkard yelling, singing and growling their joy towards the battles they've fought, and the ones yet to come.
I'd imagine it so too. Valhalla is that part of the soul that takes pleasure in the spirituality of struggle, violence and death. It's a dark place, an eerie breeze of pain, anger, sadness, joy and pleasure all joined in a chilling harmony.. Being a norweigan I've heard this type of music all my life. And understanding how cruel mother nature must have been to live in here back in the old days it's no wonder this type of music came pouring out of our people tbh 😏
Of course the Scandinavian woman playing the obscure instrument has a beautifully enchanting voice to match her gorgeous looks and soft white skin with shimmering blonde hair.
It sounds like comfort for those who have lost a loved one, a war cry for those who are ready to fight, and peace for those who are troubled by what is about to happen
I’m an Indian and hand upon heart this so beautiful. Many thanks. Only gripe it is so short and the ending is so abrupt. Hope there is a much longer version out soon
This is one of the most if not the most beautiful things ive ever heard it makes my heart bleed. In a good way. Its completely undescribable what this makes me feel
im sorry to break it to you but we screwed natural selection up, we idiot proofed everything and now the idiots continue to live on and our entire evolution is fucked
There’s something so beautiful, melancholy, and haunting about this snippet of music that really does beckon you. I can’t even imagine how complicated that instrument is to play.
I am a Norwegian American. As I dig into my heritage more, I am amazed at how close Scandinavian music is to Irish. And wonder if not because of all the young Irish lasses the Vikings carried North so long ago....? I married a lass of Irish blood. We both like it.
This.... its in my soul. Hard to explain how spiritual this is, the music, her voice. Unreal. Amazing. I could listen to her all day & I’d drift through eternity elated.
Wherever I go, whatever I do, whatever time it might be, I find myself coming back to that song, to that video with the beautifull dark queen singing in the wind, every cord of her lovely instrument, pinching my soul.
This is an absolutely hauntingly beautiful song. What is it about nordic women that they can simultaneously look like the most sternest of schoolmarms and angelic goddesses all at the same time, wow! 😍
I have dream of one day making a movie about Charlse the 12th of Sweden with the opening scene showing him and his army staring over the russina wasteland with the nyckleharpa playing in the background. It would be a "the king" (netflix) type movie but I think it would be epic especially with the interesting life Charles lived.
@Forgan Mreeman fuck off there is not a fucking culture or race ticket for listening to music. Thats literally for what culture serves, for sharing and learning. You cant privatice culture
Close your eyes and it's some far off fantasyland, the last of the sun's light fading away gently. The flames are flickering in the distance in the sea from the funeral pyre of an old wise Viking elder, as it swims away in that boat. There are so many stars in the night sky, constellations you've never seen, and there's some unknown fear some unknown omen in the air. There's a storm coming.. brewing in the distance, you can hear the faint rumblings of the thunder and rain, like a warning, a premonition.. you take slow steps, your feet almost noiseless on the soft green grass swayed by the breeze and the cold kisses your cheeks. You can feel the drift of the scent in air. He must be getting close. You have to go. You must. It's going to get dark soon. You must set off before nightfall. The dark will keep you safe. The dark will keep you protected. You must go.
