I caught this film purely by chance. New York's PBS channel aired it one night. I was a teenager and entirely unsophisticated in matters of film or philosophy, but I was riveted and remain haunted by this film for over 50 years hence. Thanks to you, RU-vid and the internet I'm glad I'll be able to relive this cinematic experience.

So glad to hear that that I managed to somehow bring back to you something that had left a mark a long time ago, Vector. Cheers!

The book is just as haunting. As sharp as dostoyevsky.

A brilliant review of this completely captivating/intriguing film. I could not look away while watching this. Such an unusual character to reluctantly identify with. Brilliant in every measure. Thank You, Ted Furlo

Thank you for your kind appreciation Ted and for your perceptive overview of the film. It certainly is mesmerizing in many aspects and the contradictions amidst the character and the contrasts between him and the audience is indeed thoroughly captivating. Cheers!

Thank you ofir, I definitely agree with you, it's a kind of an overlooked, and unfortunately unseen film by many people, that deserves more attention. I'm glad that despite a non-sensical copyright claim issued by Swedish Film Institute, which efectively prevents this video essay from being watched across Scandinavia, that has not kept you from coming across it. Once again thanks for the appreciation.

I know barely any films from Scandinavia outside of Bergman, Dreyer, and von Trier. Talk more about those Scandinavian films not many people know!!
