JimmyCasket 02 Mack and Scania had a joint-venture in the development of the V8, same engine block and displacement. I think it was Mack who casted the engine block in the beginning. It was essentially the same engine but with some small different tweaks. Scania and Mack started to work together in the 1950s, but Volvo killed it when they bought Mack around 2000.
Sound of music ! No doubt about that! Love the way is rews up ! No other v8's sound like a Scania v8, this is actactly why I Love it. So powerful. used as a kid, to be on a Scania with my Dad's freind. that was a Scania 143m 450, That is in my opinion the best truck ever made by Scania! :-)

Nope, 4 stroke. Been like that since the beginning (1969) this perticulure one, i don't know maybe a late 1970s or early 80s and back then they souped up the horse power up to around 400 or 420 and in mid 80s they got 500 Hp. and now the new V8s are a massive 16 L and max output of around 730 Hp. now that's Diesel Power right there.
