Although Mufasa’s strength and power made his enemies shiver at the thought of him, his younger brother Scar was truly the one to be afraid of. His cunning, devious and power hungry nature made him a dangerous enemy to those who opposed him. But where did Scar’s animosity towards his brother derive from and how did he get the terrible name of Scar? Hello I’m Isaac from Wotso Videos and I will reveal Scar’s background and how he became the monster we all know him to be today.

Fun fact: a lion's mane turns darker with age(same as human hair grows grey). So, taking that into consideration, it would mean that Scar is actually the *older* brother. It would make even more sense as to why he tries to overthrow Mufasa. If their father deemed Taka unworthy of rule and took his birthright from him and gave it to Mufasa, it would be more than ample reason for Scar to detest his little brother.

No, I read in the original book, Simba is the elder one. Scar was given a black mane and a darker tone, only to show he is the evil one, according to Disney.

I once heard somewhere in a video (I forgot where, it was so long ago when I heard this so this might just be my brain going mandala effect mode) that Scar was originally going to be a rival lion to Mufasa instead of his brother, mostly to have Kovu really be his biological son rather than his adopted son. That could be another reason to explain the long, dark mane (and why MCs like Kovu look like Scar while Kiara and Kion don't bare any physical resemblances, despite being Scars grandniece/nephew in canon).

This theory is ok but I always loved the theory that as cubs Taka and Mufasa were very close and loved each other dearly. He was even proud of Mufasa when it was Announced he'd be king. He started to change when Ahadi began to only pay attention to Mufasa and gave taka little to no attention. Mufasa also started not spending time with taka due to his training to be king. Taka began thinking he was less important and his family started to not love him because of that. That is when he would find the hyenas and befriend them because he felt he had no one else and his brother didn't have time for him anymore. When Ahadi learned of Takas friendship with hyenas who were mortal enemies of the lions he became outraged. When Taka tells Ahadi that the hyenas are his friends because his family doesn't love him Ahadi gets so mad that he strikes Taka and gives him his Scar. Uru then tells a regretful Ahadi to leave and not return due to what he did. That is when Taka drops his Name and becomes Scar

Ahadi was the real villain. He was evil. He killed Mufasa and Taka's mother whey they got into a fight. This made Taka furious -more than before, because Ahadi favoured Mufasa (he named Taka "Garbage" and Mufasa "King")-. So he planned to kill his father and tried to fought him. Taka lost this battle against his father, that left him a scar, and ended up being renamed Scar. That's when the story we all know started...

I have a question. It kind of occurred to me that Scar wasn’t really friends with the hyenas. He just used them In order to achieve his goal which was to become king. Throughout the movie he never treated the hyenas with respect, and only fed them so that they would obey his commands. Would a video explaining this be plausible? Thank you :)

I like to think that perhaps Scar was not always so evil, but as it became more apparent that their parents favoured Mufasa, jealousy slowly started to grow in Taka's heart, but, when he found out about the Roar of the Elders, he probably had reason to be excited, but with their parents showing no joy, or pride for Taka, or Scar, this only made him more jealous, the main thing that seems to be a sort of ' recurring theme ' so to speak, is that Scar was mistreated because he was the youngest and that his family were all terrible to him, they showed this by favouring Mufasa over Scar.

Great theory but I'm more into the idea that Uru got killed one day while she was gone hunting with Taka, he was close to his mother but she got attacked and died. When Taka came back to tell Ahadi, he said that it was his fault and gave him the scar he has

Scar is one of the best Disney villains simply because the only reason his plan ultimately unraveled was because the hyenas failed to kill Simba (Along with their insatiable appetite, driving out all the other animals during Scar's reign). There have been very few other Disney Villains that have actually succeeded in their plans, to a point. Thwarted afterwards, rather than prevented like most.

The original version I heard (years ago) was that Scar was actually the older brother, and that he got the scar and his name from his father after an accident in his youth that almost that got Mufasa killed. On that day, he lost his dignity, the respect of the pride, his birthright as future king, gained his scar and his new name, and his betrothal to Sarabi was terminated. Sarabi would later be betrothed to Mufasa, and later still became Simba's mother. That's why Scar was always so fixated on her. I wish I could remember more of the details, but that's all I've got for now.

Aside from Mufasa being older, I think that the main reason why Mufasa was chosen to be the king was because Ahadi and Uru knew that Mufasa would be much better being a king than Scar would.

Something about the image at 3:12 makes me feel real sympathy for Scar. I mean look at him: sad, alone, despised, defeated, isolated and puny, surrounded by oppressive forces beyond his control. It makes me wish for some kind of redemption for him, a sense of love and belonging to satisfy his sinister urges. Guess he was too consumed with lust for revenge at this point.

FYI To the people that are confused this is from the book a tale of two brothers which the lion king was based off of in the Disney-verse it is revealed in The Lion Guard that scar ( Askari in disney verse ) got his scar from a cobra when Scar sings when I led the guard this was the first disney explanation as to how scar got his scar hope this helps

Wotso Videos The reason I was happy about it is because not many fans regard Six New Adventures as anything to mention concerning anything canonical about Scar or LK. ... I don't agree with that at all as I love all things LK but, it's still nice to see Six New Adventures represented and Lion Guard represented along side LK as one big cohesive whole -- as it should be, in my opinion. :)

Sad that this Channel doesnt handle/explore any more intense themes like Disney being so f-ed up they are proud on Mulan and stand behind Discrimination on Genocide-Level. This cannot just be ignored. For several years now, China has been systematically repressing its Uighur Muslim minority in that region - subjecting men, women, and children to torture, sexual abuse, forced sterilization, family separation, and brainwashing, among other horrors. They add to the Chinese government’s other abuses, such as banning expressions of Islamic faith. Even worse, the film credits specifically praise the police security bureau in Turpan, a city in eastern Xinjiang with a large Uighur population. Did i miss it or did Isaac make a Stand on this?!

Favoritism really never should exist in families as such. Scar’s attitude shows how he has been over with dealing with the pride his older brother has always been given and having never the chance to get his way of things, and not just for his personal benefit; as in, at any will he has- he does not hold the same power his brother has by millions (and this is also due to his presence and authority and the opinion of the people of Scar and social standards ..etc. ). By experience it really does hurt. It scars. Nothing you’ll do will ever be yours because it will always be expected to pattern another’s way.

i do too even by looks i had an accident i was riding my dirtbike and i hit a pothole which i didnt see so i flew forward over my handlebars and my left eye got scrathed by a broken tree branch so i lost my left eye and i have a massive scar going from my chin thru my lips (they have big scars too) my nose a bit my left eye my eyebrow and up to my eyebrow

Taka got the scar from his father because his mother died while Taka was with her so his father blamed it on him and banished him and so when his father passed and mufasa became king to celebrate about simba he invited taka to re join pride rock and celebrate with him but taka was vengeful of what happened

Great explanation, just one problem. It's says in the first movie that Scar is the older brother and that's why he feels he deserves the throne, but lions fight for the throne and Mufasa was simply more fit for it. It was Scar himself that says "I'm the eldest, that throne belongs to me!"

He never said scar was. The lionesses from Scar's rule were unhappy with the way Simba was ruling. One of the lionesses' (Zira) children (Kovu) was chosen to be Scar's heir.

The problem this presents if you believe the explanation is that then Zira would simply have had to father Kovu by some rogue, which Scar never would have allowed. No, I think there's more going on than we know. I think there was another lion king... though king of the Outlands, not the Pridelands.

Execpt Zira actually says IN the first movie that Kovu wasn't her son...that he was TAKEN IN and made Scar's Heir. He has NO relation to Zira or Scar..he was adopted, Which actually leaves the story open in case they decide on making a sequel of the sequel.

this was retconned in The Lion Guard to this: When Scar lead the guard, he did most of his patrols alone. He one day came across a mysterious lion, and the lion said he had wisdom and power. he also said "The most powerful lion should be king." This intruiged scar, as the leader of the lion guard is by default the most powerful lion. So, the lion leads scar to a volcano where a snake, a friend of the lion, attacks scar, giving him the scar. The lion then says "I'll give you the cure if you listen to me-" *so then scar destroys them both.* When scar returns to pride rock and tells mufasa, Mufasa laughs and gives him the name "Scar." Also the snake's venom made it so scar didn't know right from wrong.
