Stunning. Scarborough is my happy place, it always has been and always will be.

I loved watching this photo tour of old and newer Scarborough, thank you. Still a favourite place though it seems to have changed and not at all what it was. It makes me realise how old I truly am😅. We had quite a few holidays in the 50's and 60's. Wakes week from Hebden Bridge in the coaches my mother called sharras(charabanc's), with many other locals. Sometimes for the September week. Stayed on North Cliff each time and went all over. Watched the Herring fleet come in, naval battle of miniature ships in Peasholm Park(I think). Miniature train to Scalby Mills, Water chute, swimming in the outdoor pool. Trip to The Mere and on the pirate ship to the island looking for gold. Trip to Olivers Mount. Occasionally losing pennies on the penny slot machines, a couple of shows at the outdoor theatre(Carousel and Riverboat) Shows at The Futurist theatre. Out to sea on the Coronia and again on a little boat(I was sick) Lots of walking round the headland, and harbour Castle visit, sandcastles, Corner Cafe. At some point, rides on the parachute ride at the little funfair. Cliff railways, walks to the Spa which was a bit boring for sure for us as children. Many more pleasures I will have forgotten. Slightly more recently(80's😉) a great couple of weekends there with church groups. Altogether wonderful memories.

Beautiful Scarborough !!! My mother retired there from France in thé mddle seventies and with m'y brother Michael took french children over inthe summer and lovely familles had them for a month over thé years lovely memories..

Thank you that was very interesting we used to go to colles Cosy camp in the North Bay in the 1950s so I have happy memories of the corner café and old pictures of Scarborough around that time

My grandmother lived in Tindal St off Victoria Road in Scarborough. We used to travel from Edinburgh to Scarborough every year for two weeks holiday in the 50's and 60's by Ford Prefect car, it took eleven hours! Happy memories of the town, been back many times, even had a holiday with my daughter, doing all the things I did as a child.

One of the best programmes, I've seen - not just the pictures but also the music. Thank you and greetings from Leipzig. I grew up in Hull and Beverley and, during the late 40s and early 50s we spent our holidays in Scarborough. Thank you once again.

The Bar did not stand on North Street, but on Newborough, as the main entrance to the town. North Street is to the left. Bar street is along the line of the Wall, behind it. The area of bricks with the clock is where the Bar stood.

Good collection but you have got the location of Newby Mill wrong.
