Pilots are trained to initiate a go-around whenever the approach does not meet stabilized criteria or if any unsafe condition arises, rather than attempting to force an unsafe landing. The correct aviation terminology for an aborted landing is a 'go-around' or 'missed approach'. It is a standard safety procedure, not a failure. Hope you don't mind the additional context :).
