Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video. Americans loved Gord so much. When Canada cried, we cried. We didn't always get every reference, but we could still relate. He was a treasure.
I agree wholeheartedly. As an American I was SO lucky to grow up on Lake Erie and be able to listen to radio out of London Ontario better than out of Erie PA or Cleveland. I started listening in 1990ish. I was introduced to the Hip shortly thereafter. Gord and the guys were such a HUGE part of my youth. Graduating in 1992. Searching from Buffalo to Cleveland to Pittsburgh and everywhere in between to find Up To Here or Road Apples or Fully Completely on cassette. Introducing everyone I could to their music. Sharing the heartbreak of an entire nation when we lost Gord. There will never be another Gord Downey. Ever. Some one asked me to describe their music once. "Who do they sound like?" they asked. I just looked at them and said, "They sound like the Tragically Hip." In Gord we trust!
Oh Gordie, I still find myself reaching for these beauty moments. I partied in my youth at your concerts and in my garage in Windsor. You had a galvanized group of Michiganders that we baptized into the “Hip”… they too were sad. You and the boys are a voice of a lot of lives. Thank you.
Great to see the appreciation the fans in LA have for the boys. Gord isn't that raw bundle of emotion and borderline insanity he was on stage in his younger days but it's obvious that these people were there for the music and that they loved it. Great job posting this show, been a fan for 20 years.
I found this on a mix of favorite songs. I want to tell the person who chose the songs that I love at least half of the songs. I love The Hip, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., and The White Stripes. This is one of my favorite Scared versions.
This song is so significant in the world we live in!! I live in Montréal but a 100% Canadian god bless our beautiful country because our children can learn modern English literature Cohen Gord in the school system!😊😊
Thanks very much for capturing and sharing these clips from The Troubadour show; It strikes me as an intense and intimate night. I'm having a rough patch right now (middle aged white male rough patch) and needed a good value check. In Gord We Trust.
