Always suffer from gritty eye syndrome whenever KITT (bless him) gets 'hurt' because he's not just a car, he's a major character and Michael dearly loves him as do we all
Here’s my problem with this: Michael and KITT are more than colleagues, they’re best friends, almost like brothers. As the years pass KITT develops feelings and knows companionship, affection and love. He cares deeply for Michael ( although his primary programming is to protect Michael) as well as Bonnie, April, Deven and RC. He is in many ways human. Now, in Knight Rider 2000, KITT was dismantled and melted down. Why would Michael or Deven allow that to happen? In ten years he was in storage at the Knight Industries warehouses and not once did Deven or Michael come to visit him. In fact why didnt KITT go to live with Michael at his house by the lake? His jealousy of that Chevy would be quite funny. KITT was understandably pissed when he was reactivated, and he would’ve been heartbroken that his “friends” allowed this to happen.
I remember first watching this when I was a kid in the 1990's. Thumbs up to the tv channels that played reruns of 1980's tv shows. This clip is from episode ''Junk Yard Dog'' of season 3. As a Knight Rider fan, it's painful to see what KITT goes through in this episode. He is destroyed and then basically recreated/brought back from the dead, but he is not quite the same as he used to be as Michael Knight points out - ''He should be going through this course at 100''. 0:50
Ariel... Yes. skydemo101 and 1tiercel... the thing with KARR is/was that it was alone from the start. KARR did not develop any meaningful relationship with anyone and thus did not connect with them on any level. KARR just used the people near him as tools. He was alone from the start and it did not matter to him to please or validate others. KITT has a bond with Michael and its limit was tested and the partnership failed(at one point) when KITT was sunk in. So KITT had to re-evaluate everything in the relationship and himself. He obviously does not want to let Michael down because he still feels a bond with him on a "mental" level but the confidence is gone down after that test of the physical capabilities of the partnership on the battlefield kinda took a fail. But later on, they get back on track together. And I LOVE THEM.
Can somebody tell me, how did KITT remember being hurt while according to the show he was killed, his computer was replaced with a new unit? How he can suffer from trauma if it's just a copy that din;t suffer being killed?
Movie world magic! :) haha. No idea. Just speculating here... either:- [1] the hardware component was robust and survived [2] the new copy of KITT installed was the previous backup of him before the "sinking" and he is aware that the old copy died and is thus afraid.
@@piotrmalewski8178 Computer memory is only one component. if you destroy your computer but your hard drive is not sererly damaged, you can restore the data and transfer to another unit.
2:31 -- If you look closely the driver's seat is much larger & taller than the one beside. Then in 2:56 the two seats are the same size and height. Proof that a small driver dressed as a car seat is driving KITT in auto cruise.
Did anyone notice that the white KITT has the Seasons 1-2 dashboard? If you look closely, you can see the little twin monitors as opposed to the big single monitor of the Seasons 3-4 dashboard.
I had noticed that even when I saw this episode as a kid. I suspect due to budget constraints they didn't have any cars left with the Season 3 dashboard in white, so they grabbed a Season 1 - 2 car and made it white.
AchtungBaby77 Yeah. I also noticed that in Seasons 3-4 whenever KITT drives on Auto Cruise with no one in the driver's seat, the car they used also had the Seasons 1-2 dashboard as well.
Because it wasn't brute power that destroyed him this time. He, despite every improvement, just was disolved. Like another of those poor death animals Michael and he found earlier in the episode.
Goliath was, in their first encounter, an unexpectedly superior foe. Both KITT and Goliath sported the same ''molecular bonded shell'' and so.. essentially you could argue that as it normally would, the greater force, Goliath, won. If I remember correctly the scene in this video was after KITT was destroyed by acid.. there was nothing he or Michael could have possibly done. KITT was helpless, scared, even begging for Michael to help him even though Michael couldn't. How would you feel about going out into the sea after you very nearly drowned despite knowing how to swim.. I would bet you probably wouldn't be too eager to try again.
The original 4 season show is one of the Top-10 best TV-series ever done. Everything else with the name Knight Rider were just several different pieces of shit.
Rayhunton Gamer No, everything got destroyed except the vehicle shell, electronics got totaled. KITT's memory banks are a new copy. The way I figure is that Bonnie creates new back-ups of KITT every time she inspects him.
Illusive Prime Listen to the quote of that episode. And second , if kitt was a copy of the previous maintainance then how is he supposed to get phobia?
+Rayhunton Gamer , my guess is from Bonnie later in Season 4 Bonnie goes on vacation but the plane she is on is highjacked ....in that episode Bonnie tells Michael not to make fun of Kitt's Phobia of flying..... she said he was programed to fear flying. Michael's responce was Yes but you programed him... she addmited it.........and it's true since she programed Kitt's fear of flying since she fears it.
Yup. KITT was basically destroyed in this episode and they had to rebuild him. In this scene he still haven't received his paintjob and molecular bonding back. He had just been put together and they were testing if he was working properly or still needed more work before being finalized and ready to get back on the road. Poor KITT, however, was actually afraid after the way he technically died, so recently. Odd to say it, considering he has always been, technically, a computer program and never supposed to ever feel fear.
welcome to the 80s unrealism, you'll see in the later tests, there is constant repetition of him handling the course better, like 86mph, all you had to do back then was show a high speedo count and speed the video up some which is exactly what they did with KITT on turbo boost scenes, has a sort of, charm to it, but yeah, in an assetto course like that, you'll be lucky to hit highway speed limits on straights and 40s in the turns haha
Look up videos of KITT's super pursuit mode. You'll see the same thing every time, completely unrealistic speed and sped up footage of KITT supposedly going through corners, even *sharp corners* at that speed. It was the 80's, they weren't too worried about realism as long as things were entertaining.
