God, everytime someone mentions scary movie, a scream fan's head drops in agony.

This is the correct one. Scream is very consistent with the story and the sequels carry out the story so you can’t skip any. And contrary to what some newcomers may think the 2022 Scream is NOT a reboot or remake. It’s just another sequel but it’s called Scream and not Scream 5 for a reason.

Tip for other Scream movies, height never comes into play. When people wear the costume it's almost like Ghostface becomes an entity on its own.

I saw this in the theater back in 96 and the two killers twist had me shook.

back in 1996 when this movie came out the 'big names' in movies, like Drew Berrymore, always lasted until the end of the movie. It was shocking to many to see her die in the openining scene...

Fun Facts: - So when Tatum said to Dewey that the janitor is your superior, it's true cause the janitor at the school that was dressed as Freddy Krueger was Wes Craven, who directed Scream-Scream 4. He also directed the original Nightmare on Elm Street. - So before Scream came out in 96, the caller ID was not popular at all. The caller I.D. sales in the U.S. tripled after Scream was released, lol. - Billy AND Stu were at Casey's and used their girlfriends as Alibis for being out. It was Stu's idea to have Casey and Steve on the kill list due to hatred because Casey dumped him for Steve. Stu was on the patio with Steve while Billy was in the front, tormenting her on the phone. The question about "Which door am I at" was a trick question. Stu ran to the front door to let Billy in. You could hear the front door open before she went outside through the kitchen. Also, when her parents got home, the front door was open. When her mom was hearing Casey breathing on the other end of the phone line, you can hear one talking to another saying "tree," and the phone ends. Also, when Steve was tied up, he was looking at both directions of the house. That's how Billy was able to stab her on the ground multiple times, dragged by both, both hung her up, gutted her, and put her liver in the mailbox so quickly and left without being seen. - Wes Craven lol to get his actors into character emotionally like Drew Barrymore (Casey) and Neve Campbell (Sidney) right before he start to film he would run up to them and tell them something terrifying. With Drew Wes Craven would tell her real-life stories of animal cruelty to bring out her emotions and then run off and yell action, lol. - Roger L. Jackson is the voice of Ghostface for ALL of Scream movies. For every film, the actors were never allowed to meet him before or see him during filming, so that way, when they were on the phone with him, it would give them that real fear effect. Wes Craven always kept him hidden from the others to where they couldn't see him, but he was still able to see them. He also improved a lot of his lines as well. - Neve Campbell (Sidney) was originally going to say no to the film as she is especially afraid of horror movies. But when hearing her co-star Skeet Ulrich (Billy) from "The Craft" (1996) was going to appear, she agreed. They did both movies back to back that same year. - They casted Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis and gave him the hair style cause of how close he looked like to young Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street, who also climbed in through a bedroom window. His last name, Loomis, is a reference to Dr. Loomis in Halloween. - Also, after he climbed through her window, the first time, "Fear the Reaper," was playing. He climbed through her window to distract her and turned on her stereo to cover up the background noise of Stu kidnapping her dad. If notice he was wearing the same outfit at the end. - The news lady that was harassing Sidney "how does it feel to almost being butchered" at the school is Linda Blair from the Exorcist. - If you look really closely when Billy was "stabbed" in the bedroom, you can see Stu adding the fake blood onto the knife before wiping it off. -Casey's comment about Nightmare on Elm Street about how the first was good, but the rest sucked. It's because at the time Wes Craven only did the first one and didn't direct all the other ones, lol. -Kenny actually saved Sidney in his literal final moment AFTER his throat got slashed. He pointed to the back and told her "door" so she could crawl out. He was killed due to being collateral he was standing in the way to get to Sidney in the van. - Ghostface in the bathroom was a prank on Sidney it wasn't either Billy or Stu. - Rose McGowan(Tatum) was actually able to fit through the cat door. They had to staple her shirt to the door cause she kept falling out. Also, just before her head got smashed in, she herself added, calling out "mom," and Wes loved it and kept it in cause it gave her last moments of humanity. Rose also picked out her own outfits for her character. The jersey she wore with #10 was also a reference to Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street. - When Billy hit Stu in the head with the phone, it was an accident on Skeets part. The fake blood was so sticky and ended up hitting Matthew Lillard instead of the desk, and his "Oww You hit me with the phone D***" he stayed in character and was his real reaction to it. Wes loved it as well, so he kept it, lol. Matthew also improved most of his kitchen scene with his lines, like with "Houston, we have a problem," "the peer pressure, I'm far to sensitive," and the comment about his parents going to be so mad, lol. - That WHOLE kitchen scene took about 2 weeks to film because of the amount of high energy that was used as well with all of the fake blood (corn syrup dyed red). - Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard actually started dating while filming Scream and were together for a little while. So that whole "I've always had a thing for you, Sid" was true, lol. He originally auditioned for Billy, but the casting didn't believe that someone like Sidney/Neve would date someone like him, lol. So he ended up getting Stu, and Skeet got Billy cause of his look alike to Johnny Depp. The funny thing is that even though the casting thought that about Matthew, they ended up dating real life anyway 😂 even though they didn't last that long as a couple they are still close friends. The OG cast are still pretty tight to this day (especially Skeet, Matthew, Neve and Jamie *Randy*), and they do A LOT of different conventions over the years together and still do. - When Billy got stabbed with the umbrella the 2nd time, it actually hit Skeet, where he had heart surgery when he was younger, so that scream he let out was his real action to the pain. - Drew Barrymore was supposed to play Sidney. But she ended up changing her mind, and she herself went to Wes with an idea to have her as the open kill cause no one would expect it because of how popular she was in the 90s. Also, it would show if they could kill off a huge star right off the bat, it would mean NO ONE was safe. It was the BIGGEST surprise shock effect for the audience cause they assumed she would be the leading character and they played into it with the publicity and posters. -Even though Billy was at Sidneys for the attack, it was Stu who she fought with. That first attack was to mess with Sidney and also to set up Billy so that way he wouldn't be a suspect later on. They were the ones who called the police that's how they got there so quickly. When Stu was tripping up the stairs to chase Sidney, you could hear ghostface saying "easy" "easy." The next day at the lockers, he was checking his face in Tatums mirror for any bruises, and when Tatum was hitting him with her sucker he says "easy" "easy. -Billy was always 1 handed with his killing if he had a knife if didn't he resorts to choking except for Tatum he used the opportunity with the garage door. He gave a signal look to Stu at the front door that Tatum was dead. Billy wanted her dead because she wouldn't have let him get near Sidney, especially since she told Stu NOT to invite him to the party. So he killed her to get out of the way. Stu uses both hands when using the knife and resorts to other tactics if he doesn't have a knife like the both times he fought Sidney (at her house and in his living room). -Stu was the one that called Dewey about the abandoned car to get him away from the house for a little bit and also called Randy about the principal after the whole "I'll be right back." Billy killed the principal while Stu was inviting people to his party so they could use him as a deploy for later that night to get the rest of the guests to leave the house so the real party could begin. - Dewey was originally supposed to die in this one, but Wes Craven and everyone just loved David Arquette when they did a screen view test and how he played his character. They all fell in love with him, so Wes went back, and they reshot the ending where he had Dewey do the thumbs up to show the audience that he survived.

It was Drew's idea to be killed off, she was supposed to be the main character, she was on the front of all of the posters and trailers insinuated she was the main character, but she went to Wes and said you know what would really mess everyone up, kill me first. I adore her for that decision, number one it was brilliant, but to take a huge pay cut for the sake of pleasing the audience, she's a rock star for that.

I was only 19 years old when this movie Scream was first released in theaters. But when I first saw this movie was when it came out on VHS and Home Video. But the very first time that I saw this movie was after I saw the movie Scary Movie. This is such a good movie for real. But to this day I still love this movie a lot. And I really enjoy your reaction to this movie a lot.

Love the Scream series! Even the lesser entries are a lot of fun, and the first is still one of the best slashers out there. Since you've seen Scary Movie, please move right along to Scream 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer (both with Buffy/Daphne). And if you want a Sarah Michelle Gellar movie that will really scare you - 2004's The Grudge

Just so you're aware, in case you do the sequels, that the killer when they're wearing the mask is supposed to an average height and usually sounding male when they grunt or get hit or something. They want you to suspect everyone and not rule anyone out based on height or gender because then that wouldn't be as fun! I hope you do the sequels!!! They're also very very good! Neve, Courtney, and David, and Jamie all come back for the second movie!

This was so much fun!! And I fully support the idea of you jumping into more horror, especially the Scream films. Scream 2 is easily my favourite of the bunch but honestly there's not a bad film in the franchise. Growing up this and Buffy were everything! You can probably tell but I was the very annoying Randy of my friend group 😂

My personal favorite horror franchise! I love me a good murder mystery and the Scream series scratches that itch for me. Listen...I'm not pushing you to watch the rest of the series or anything like that. BUT...if you freely decided to watch the rest of the movies, I will absolutely be seated

The Scream movies aren't pure horror movies. They are fun and comedy is written into them. They are Meta Horror Comedy Who-done-its. I was 14 when this came out and it was an absolute game changer. The 80s slasher craze had died down and horror was on life support. Scream was such a fresh take and a slasher for the 90s. It was the 1st horror movie where its characters had seen previous horror movies and the characters comment on the tropes of it. It was a brilliant change of pace and pretty much saved the genre. Drew Barrymore was the most famous person in the cast and all the marketing revolved around her and shes front and center on the movie poster. All to make people think she was the star of it so that it was a giant shock when she died in the first scene. I'd encourage you to keep watching the Scream movies. They all have that same fun tone. At the very least give Scream 2 a shot, Sarah Michelle Geller, Buffy herself, is in it.

It's still amazing that people haven't watched this movie as it was 1996. Saw this at the cinema on release. It really was incredibly innovative, and spawned so many similar teen slasher pics like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legend, which by the way are very entertaining films. The Scream sequels are excellent too, and really do keep the viewer thoroughly intrigued throughout. This original was brilliant as it was so self aware and borrowed every horror trope from classic films. Good reaction and you gotta do the excellent sequels, you will be amazed by what famous faces are in each film, and the great innovative writing developing the theme further in each sequel.

I was 10 when this came out and I first watched it. It's so fun watching people watch a movie I've seen probably 7 billion times for the first time. I Know What You Did Last Summer needs a viewin'. :D

Okay I screamed when you said ACAB at Dewey holding the mask up to his face lmaooooo Also wanted to say, absolutely love Drew Barrymore's impact on this franchise and the genre as a whole. They offered her the role of Sidney and she thought it would be more impactful if she was the opening kill. When they did press to promote, they misled everyone that Drew was the lead character of the movie, hinting she would be a "final girl" all in order to create the shock factor they they killed a massive movie star just minutes into the movie. Sidney/Neve obviously ended up carrying the movie, but Drew got people in the theater and provided the jumping off point.

Out of all the Scream (#1) reactions this was - BY FAR - my favorite, most entertaining, and going on my repeat playlist. :)

It was the first horror movie i watched in 3 4 or 5th grade it’s a thing i haven’t told many people that but to those i did coulden’t believe i watched it right before going to sleep without any nightmares it just messed me up mentaly along with a couple of other things from when i was a kid and it’s some of the seasons why it’s hard to scare me if it isen’t a jumpscare and it takes a a lot to make me feel sick but i’ve also loved everything dark creepy and scary from a very young age

A little backstory of how Scream got created. Kevin Williamson wrote the story, originally titled "Scary Movie," and based the plot loosely on the 1990 case of the Gainesville Ripper. It was a string of murders in a small town... Then it was changed to "Scream" cause the Ghostface costume was a close resemble to the 1893 Scream painting. The Ghostface costume was originally going to be all white, but Wes Craven said it was too much like the KKK so he did the black robe with a white face. Kevin wanted to create a story that has horror but also with some comedy of making it a self-awareness within the horror universe. But also use a relatable story that truly happened as a baseline. So many Directors wanted to be a part of it there was even a big bidding war. He chose Wes Craven cause he was the only one who truly understood the story and his vision. Kevin wrote 1, 2, and 4. He originally wrote for Scream 3 but they were forced to scrap that storyline just before they started filming due to the Columbine shooting massacre and because he was already back to writing for other stuff he was involved in so they had to bring in a different writer. He was an executive producer in "Scream 2, Scream 2022, and "Scream 6". Also helped as a regular producer in "Scream 3 and 4". Now he's going to be the new director for the upcoming of "Scream 7". The 2 directors that directed "Ready or Not" were the ones that directed "Scream 2022 and "Scream 6". Wes Craven directed all of the Scream movies except for the "Scream 2022" and "Scream 6". He died after making the 4th. The title of "Scary Movie" ended up being used for the parody movies. The 1st Scary Movie was about Scream, Scream 2, I know what you did last summer, the Blair witch project, Urban Legend, the sixth sense, The usual suspects, the Matrix, a very brief Dawson's Creek (which Kevin Williamson also wrote for).

When Randy (Jamie Kennedy) was watching Halloween by himself and telling Jamie Lee Curtis to turn around that he's behind you. Wes wanted to play on that with their real names. It was him telling himself that he Jamie needed to turn around, lol. The way Wes Craven creates those little things is amazing and brilliant! - The whole last 20-30 mins everything that was happening around the house it was perfectly mirroring with what was happening in Halloween, lol. The bedroom scene with Billy/Sidney same time as Halloween bedroom scene, Randy couch scene when Sidney yells out for help while running outside happened at the same time as Laurie on Halloween was screaming so Randy didn't hear it but Ghostface did which ended up saving Randys life, Dewey searching through the house with the movie playing in the background, and then the closet scene that Sidney was hiding in waiting to attack Billy with the umbrella at the same time as Laurie was also hiding in a closet from Michael Myers 😂.

It has been pointed out to me that if you listen closely as Sydney is chased up the stairs in her house you can hear the killer saying "easy" a few times. Same as when Tatum hits stew for joking about the murders at school. I saw this movie 20+ times and didn't notice

+darcie’s not here Hi new subscriber to the channel…Just wanted to let you know that the Scream franchise is not really all that scary it has a few jumpy moments here and there but it’s mainly a whodunnit thriller instead of straight up horror. I highly HIGHLY recommend the entire franchise because in a lot of horror fan’s eyes it is one of the best start to current installment horror franchise with only really one movie that is still good in comparison to most. If you enjoyed guessing who the killer was though this one was a little more obvious…I think you may actually surprise yourself and become a fan of a horror franchise. If I was to show a scaredy cat any horror movies it would 1000% be this franchise because they are actually entertaining and well done outside of the jumpy bits and the killings. P.S. This movie blew a lot of people’s minds because all of the promos for this movie was focused on Drew Barrymore as the star and Neve Campbell too. But all of the posters and trailers and such made it appear that Drew Barrymore. HUGE name at the time was going to be the new Scream Queen star of a new slasher flick. But then when she died in the first 10 minutes everyone was just in disbelief. Just wanted to share that context for why this movie became a pop culture moment back in the day.

It's so funny to me how many people who have reacted to Scream say that they have seen Scary Movie. It's like, why are you watching the parody of a movie before the actual movie it's parodying. You kind of ruin both movies that way because you dont understand any of the jokes about what it's parodying and then when you go back and watch the original movie you will always think of the parody first. You're doing both movies a disservice.

THE GATE (1987) is a great great starter horror film.. its actually rated PG.. it's more "creepy" and "spooky" than outright scary.
