I hate pride month and I’ve done all of the forced EDI courses and training days…. I just don’t like being forced to except something that I don’t like. I’m not down with that kind of thing and never will be. The more it’s pushed the more I push back.
In the old years of the 80s, 90s, it was a Saturday only. From that, many things changed for the better and people accepted difference. I have no idea why suddenly it became a month, which actually is 12 months with extra politics in June, and that force-feeding is bound to backfire. I feel sick with it all, and I was part of it 40 years ago. Whatever changed, it wasn't those of us from that era that wanted it.

Labour are about to win by a supermajority: especially since Farage seems intent on preventing even the good right-wing tories (who have fought HARD for Brexit only to be thrown out by Sunak) from keeping their seats. Starmer's Britain will make every county on the UK look like a Pride Month BLM hellhole, every county will be another London. Get used to it. Nothing we can do. All of the options are crap options - that's the problem. Reform involves Nigel farage who is a compulsive liar and hence they may promise a lot but could simply be Tory 2.0, conservatives - do I need say more? Labour aren't a great party as we can see, greens are obsessed with climate change while we have other issues to deal with, lib Dems are a first world problems party who's leader runs off for ages (all I hear them talk about when they come to the door is speed limits and how houses appear near them - such a first world problem). So all the parties are pretty crap tbh hence it will just come down to what issues people matter about most - your benefit population will always vote labour, people struggling to progress in work will likely vote labour, immigrants will likely vote labour etc

Since the dawn of time women have been able to discern, usually correctly, as to the sex/gender of another person. It’s vital to know, almost instantly - “Is this person potentially a threat?” It’s a matter of self-preservation 🙄

I don’t think it’s quite at the same level as in Britain but here, in Aus, there are many people working in the aged care/disability field who are here on working visas. As in every industry there’s good & bad, but when working with vulnerable people the bad ones (& the negligent & the uncaring) can do too much damage. Damage which can be irreversible. Good care workers are worth their weight in gold but they don’t get the recognition, especially financially, they so deserve. It may not require a degree to work in this industry but the skills required are high in a different way. Not everyone is suited to this work. It can be physically demanding, emotionally draining & quite challenging at times. Sadly, as people live longer their chances of undergoing cognitive decline increase. This makes care-giving even more demanding. Add to this a language barrier & the whole situation becomes more difficult. I’ve also seen this “in play”, both in hospitals & nursing homes. “Breathing” or “bleeding” - unfortunately, to some ears, the words sound virtually the same. Just one example.

My son-in law works in a care home, the money is not that good but the hours and lack of respect is worse. He has a family, but is expected to be available for work at short notice to cover other people. if there is a family emergency, say one of the kids is ill, he and my daughter have to decide who will take time off, they need both incomes. He is told how replaceable he is if he doesn't comply. The overseas workers they bring in allow them to keep down the British workers wages. if you are going to ask questions about these jobs, at least make the person answering be honest about that.

In response to the getting our own unemployed back to work, the last Labour government did very little, there was definitely a 2 tier system going on at the Job Centres when people signed on, I was unemployed for a period during that government and the job centre staff were very hard on people they thought were a soft target ie people who had a history of being employed and didn't know haw to play the system, in the mean time the professionally unemployable got away with "just sign here, see you in 2 weeks"
I can just imagine all these got young men coming in boats wanting to go into low payed health carrying roles. We are told on one hand they come over because of financial benefits of working in this country. While they are sitting around could they not be educated on our way of life and a trade like brick laying ect. No good having care workers who don,t even know enough English to understand when someone needs emergency help because they don,t understand enough English to know if someone is complaining of chest pains and how to make that phone call and explain to the 999 operator the symptoms.
There’s no way I’d want one of these “fresh off the boat” men caring for my mum! Then again, I don’t want any male, regardless of age, ethnicity, religion or gender identity 🙄, giving her intimate care! Unfortunately some care providers really don’t care who they employ, how suited they are to, what is often, challenging work or the language skills. Yes, try to work out whether they’re saying “breathing” or “bleeding” when they have a very thick accent - this can be life-threatening!
If our governments, whichever party, don't back and spend on defence then everything else we care about ... NHS, freedoms, values, etc .... becomes irrelevant if we lose our country to the likes of another Putin. If Corbyn had gotten into power I dread to think what may have happened to this country with his disband the armed forces and trident deterrent policies.

Maybe consider women who've suffered a life of DV that it does affect, or parents of children that some ppl think a job in a school is a time for activism! This is an ussue that also needs addressing to make it clear in law, just because it doesn't affect you, doesn't mean it doesn't anyone else.

RUFO) These academics recognised that to develop their movement would mean deconstructing the world view of what is male and female. They ignore or dismiss the biological creation of sex and the objective reality of the world stating it was imposed by White males that need deconstructing. Clearly a Political movement. Biological facts do not exist, Thought process and subjective feelings are the new reality and these are fluid and can change. Feelings not facts and the feelings of men presenting as women supercede the feelings of women. In Scotland the NHS in Scotland pay support wokers living wage. They have to now have an SVQ9, which is a year of stufy. That as well as ongoing training regulalry throughout the year. They rake bloods, do medications and give injections. For living wage. Thats why they dont have care staff.

APPRENTICESHIPS! I ran a dementia home. If level 1,2,3,4 training provided a further natural step to a level5 nursing degree you would get 16years olds starting in care and progressing their career to nursing, theatre nursing, prescribing nurse etc etc Our kids are being forced into university and in many cases remaining children for another five years. I was working one night a week at 13. Infantilisation is not a great thing to do to a countries youth.
