So many beautiful plants growing in our gardens- have so many amazing benefits. Did you know that Bee Balm was a Native American favorite? Also known as Scarlet BEE BALM. Or Mondarda didyma.
Cherokee used it as an analgesic. A poultice of the leaves, specifically, for headache. It is a Carminative- meaning it expels gas and is used for colic. (Another Cherokee remedy). In the Book- Native American Medicinal Plants: An Ethnobotanical Dictionary, there are only recorded remedies for the Cherokee. Many of the plants in this book have multiple tribe listings, but for some reason, there is only recorded Cherokee information.

Other uses- as a Cold Remedy Poultices were applied (I am assuming maybe feet or chest). It was a diaphoretic for the Cherokee. It was also a diuretic. It was used as a Febrifuge- as a "hot tea to bring out measles." They also used it as a Gastrointestinal aid for weak bowels and stomach.
The Indians also considered Garlic mustard as a heart medicine. I would say good for the heart chakra. Lastly as a sedative- for hysterics and restful sleep.
