To go with Harry's intro: when I was 8, my dog got out of the yard and I chased him by myself around the town until I watched him dart across a freeway and get smoked in the butt by a van. He survived but I didn't know it until someone found him, cuz I sure as hell wasn't running across the freeway at that point. Ran home crying. Scary day for 8yr old me.
