Coach jump with Dennis at Skydive the farm. When the time comes to deploy my main parachute I can not find the handle. I start to go to my reserve then give it one last attempt to find my main handle which I find. This is my 13th jump.
This is what I was thinking as well, on ground before getting into the airplane and while reaching the altitude I check several times for it. Last jump though I grabbed my leg strap that came undone... It felt different in my hand so I knew the ball is there, so I got it and 100m lower I pulled. Stowing the leg straps on this rig is a mess... Those check and rechecks are not for beginners only, they do have a purpose. I caught my altimeter quitting on me the first 300m going up once. I had the time to find one in that load and enjoy my jump in stead of coming down the boring way. The more we check our gear, the lesser chances to be surprised. Have fun and God bless!
That has to be the scariest realist moment a coach has holey shit my student can't find main handle let's see if he can get the reserve out AS WE GO INTO THE CLOUD LAYER lol that shit was fucking awesome!!
Couldn't find a reserve handle once and I really needed it. The white handle blended into by white jumpsuit. This made for extremely nervous several seconds.
Consistent self gear checks and emergency procedures will prevent this from happening, you should do a run through of your emergency procedures at least three times prior to exit and with that to several PCTs to your BOC.
Ditto!! Plus if you can't find the hacky, just run your hand (right hand!!) down the side of your container, that should lead you to it Main thing is this, the kid walked away!!.
I was lucky enough to get my first rig while still on student status. I would put it on, close my eyes and practice finding each handle. Did the same in the air on a few jumps. It helped and saved my skinny butt at least 2x!! Everyone should try this. Blue Skies!!
Back away, there were 2 positions for the handle, one where it is for everyone now and one on the right leg strap, this led to too many horseshoe mals and eventually banned.
lol I just started aff and I did this twice in the same fricken day, grabbing at the legstraps and anything but the most important part so instructor had to pull. Time to practice touching that s.o.b for an hour+ before next time haha
A plane is able to maneuver through the air with very fine precision and yet its wings don't move at all. It's the same with a person. All you need to do is to change slightly the angle of attack of one or more body parts, like the palm of your hands, and that's enough to steer you forward, backwards, sideways, clockwise, counterclockwise. . . you name it.
I get the feeling that this was the instructor sort of doing a checkout flight on a student.... he was being tested on flight ability and docking, virtually thrown into a tumble and recovered and that looked intentional on the instructors part.... then the tight pilot chute grab... this was also to test to see if the student would panic, and immediately deploy the reserve or if they would altitude check and make attempts at main, before forced to deploy reserve above at least 2000... This is a high speed malfunction test in my opinion.... Well played student, you have yer wings, and you deserve them!! Great vid guys
Hello, I wanted to kindly remind you that I sent you a message regarding your content. Please see my previous message. We would be happy to know if there is any special requirement for publishing it that we could fulfill. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you
The only word I think of looking at these people is dweeb.s. lol. But great job kid! It happens to the best of us. Well, not me ever in 20 years but you know... Welcome to the sport man! Glad to have ya!
Home of Creation , Big deal that he laughed. In fact, I thought it was hilarious! He’s jumping out of a plane so he’s probably not all there in the head. Wait.... I jump out of a plane as well.. Hopefully they serve beer in Hell
I meant only a bit teasing... Deploying the parachute is such a relevant thing to do in skydiving. On the other hand, there's always the reserve specifically for any problem using the main canopy. Other than the delayed deploy, he clearly was skilled. I'm not terribly experienced myself. I did 27 jumps years ago, staying in the student level.
