To those not familiar with the AN-22 and the sound, this would certainly sound creepy. But to me and my fellow aviation fanatics, that sound, along with the distance, Doppler effect and the way the high altitude winds affects sound makes it even more amazing.
Hi, @fleetwoodpellew8497, from my personal experience, you would've liked the sound of a Douglas C-133 Cargo master at about 25,000 - 29,000 or so feet. I saw one on a clear beautiful Sunday, in late summer, later afternoon in 1962, I was 9 years old. I'm now almost 71 years old and still recall it vividly. I just wish there was somebody with me at the time to share that experience I had. It really generated a deep base drone and got deeper the further away the plane from you it flew. Your range of vision is so great due to the plane's altitude rather than if it's flying 300 ft. above you. I was also amazed at how very well the sound travelled. Those four 3-bladed Curtis props were 18 ft in diameter, and the Pratt & Whitney T-34-P-9W turbines generated 7,500 shp ea.
funny, I'm wqtching the video foe the same reason.. I live close to Fribourg and I could hear the plane as well.. the sound was in such a low frequency, that I was currious enough to look it up on flightradar.. when I saw the an-22 I was shure, it must have been this one!
It's incredible how long the sounds can be heard. Had her flying above my place on the way from Leipzig to Spain 2 years ago. Even 5 minutes (yeah, you heard right) it's deep bass like sound could be heard until eventually fading away. Really impressive.
@@Cumulus1989 Yeah, but the new TU-404 is contra-rotating, and will be in service in 2030. Will be up to 10 times louder, can fly up to 50,000ft high, and can do up to 85 decibels MAX!!!! (So can be hearable up to 60 miles away at 30,000ft high!!!!)
@@Entity_BlackRed777 I'm affraid You're wrong. They don't let a plane loud like that anywhere... And it's a dream like IL112. But maybe I'm wrong. I don't speak english well, hope You Understand me
This video just made me remember one thing. I was like 7 - 8 i think and it was night. We were still on the garden waiting for stars. And i started hearing this sound. I though it was an ufo bc i saw those position lights lol
Yep, i'm crying hearing this sound and thinking bout her circumstances still with holes in it since over a year. You can call me dumb for crying for a plane but for me as a avgeek it's more, it's my love, drug and life. Just Hope to hear this sound again ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😬
Not currently, since it was damaged in Ukraine unfortunately 😭💔 but till her last flight on january 12, 2021 she often visited Manchester and Prestwick. Noone knows her circumstances now but we can hope for her repair.
A very interesting sound and a very good video! Considering the aircraft is at ~ 24,000 ft, the big turboprop still produces a very audible sound. The doppler effect sounds from beginning to end of video are excellent.
Yeah, high altitude prop planes can sound creepy, especially at night. Heck, I was audio recording the landing of a Beech 99 at our airport back in 1979 in broad daylight and a Piper Aztec flew over the top of the airport at cruising altitude and it sounded really creepy.
A shame that those f*cking russian soldiers damaged this beauty😭💔 landing Gear faring damaged, top and left hand fuselage damaged, slightly damaged right handed fuselage and small holes everywhere😭 i Just hope her to be repaired ❤️ big Beauty ❤️❤️❤️ i Love you and my thoughts are with you❤️😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚 i won't get tired of listening to her and her smaller sister Antonov 12 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
