The first story takes place in Boone, Iowa. Ridden that same rail track with the company he is talking about, and went to the summer camp by there as a kid as well. Pretty place, some of the best of boring Iowa. Nighttime was always eerie though.

That story about the turtle at around 55:00, is honestly within the realm of possiblity. I'd say 500 lbs was an exaggeration, but we KNOW of 250 lbs ones, and 50+ lbs would make an absolutely monsterous beast that's completely plausible.

That great grandaddy alligator snapping turtle story sounds believable. They can live a long, long time, and get massive if they're a normal alligator snapping turtle. They make common snappers look tiny. All big old creatures like that lived that long because they were both lucky and smart, and that sounds like a very smart old snapper. Hunting disguised under the mud, not bothering with small prey, and instead going for the biggest and most nutritious game. It probably ate all the smaller gators and larger fish that were there until it depleted the big fish and scared off the gators. Like snakes, turtles can eat a bunch and then sleep hidden for ages while slowly digesting or conserving energy during cold days. That behavior makes it hard to find the extra sneaky specimens because they're only out and about a small portion of time.

The one with the canyon lake, muzzleloaders, and missing time, I thought I had easily figured out. Oh, it wasn't guns. Someone was lighting firecrackers and fireworks. The last event was them lighting a large mortar as their finale. Then he said about the missing time. Nope, that's not from fireworks 😂.

I have raised German shepherds in my entire life and I have never seen a 120 lb German Shepherd that was not severely overweight and close to death German shepherds don't usually get above 90 lb. Edit: unless it's a king shepherd
