I found pattern works great as base layer grass for stupid size surfaces. And then scatter or forest pack on top with bigger grass clumps to break up the repetition, or more varied plants.

That is most certainly a valid technique and it sounds pretty cool for adding a base grass layer, thank you for sharing it! Nejc

I am wondering how to add a displacement to only selected polygons in a model. For example, I want to use a knurl texture on a cylindrical surface, but only about half of the cylinder needs to have the knurl. How could I do this?

If you mean displacement, it's the same as applying any material to particular polygons, just apply the material with displacement to those polys following how that is done in your DCC (Max or C4D), and a material without displacement to the rest. Hope this helps! Tom

For Corona Pattern, you can use the "restrict on material ID" and simply assign a specific material ID to the polys you want the pattern to affect. For Scatter, I believe you'd have to separate the geometry into its own object (which would also work for the displacement and pattern too if you wanted to go that route). Hope this also helps! Tom

Thanks Tom. Good to know its basically the same as applying a material. Cheers. :)@@ChaosCorona

I think there is a problem with the video.. All the "T"s are gone 😁

Hahah :) We used up our monthly allowance of "T"s and had to do without them ;) Tom

When will 3DSMAX 2024 be supported??
@ChaosCorona
@ChaosCorona Год назад
It's supported in the daily builds of Corona 10 forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=38385.msg211526#msg211526 - if you prefer to wait for a stable release, there will be a hotfix for Corona 9, the plan for that is to go out next week if all goes well. Hope this helps! Tom

PS I will note here that this will be a version of Corona that installs and runs in Max 2024, however some new features of Max 2024 such as its brand new color management will require an actual new feature in the Corona code, so this will not be included in the hotfix as those never have new features in them. Just in case that is something in particular you were wondering about :) Thanks! Tom

It's an English accent, more specifically a variation Jake refers to as "refined gentleman" :) Tom
