Pretty sure you've not made a mechanical spring at the artisan table yet. That should open a couple of recipes for you, including the second black forge upgrade. EDIT: Commented too soon, you figured it out!

We tried to have free range chickens lol. It we had a bat incident so we had to cage them up I need to find a better alternative than the iron cage pieces tho

Many aspects of the game have been covered to death ... but there are hardly any exploring scarcity of resources .... those that might eventually run out in a stretched out game (or become increasingly hard to find). I believe that fishing is a mechanism to cover some aspects of it (like coral cod dropping chitin post-leviathans), but not sure if it covers all. Silver comes only from silver veins according to wiki for example. Not sure if Flametal has another source other than the Flametal Ore Veins. Might be worth a shot at a video on this subject.

A more specialized variation on this subject can be something like .... which of the arrows can we make the most of. Since Carapace, feathers, wood are technically infinite (drop from creatures or farmable) ... carapace arrows are infinite probably ... while silver arrows might be a lot more finite

You need to try out the Fascinating Carry Weight mod. It increases your carry weight with respect to run, swim and jump skill....so its nicely balanced.

I'm having the same stuttering audio issue in both vanilla and modded. Haven't been able to fix it yet. I'm hoping it'll fix itself at this point. Only thing I haven't tried is a clean reinstall. I just turned music off too for now and I'm playing through it. :/
