Welcome to our latest video, where we relive the exciting moments from the **May 2013 SCCA Daytona Club Race**! In this episode, I’m behind the wheel of my ITB Mazda Protegé, pushing the limits on one of the most iconic tracks in motorsport history-Daytona International Speedway.
The Fast Lap
Join me as I take you through the exhilarating experience of setting a fast lap during the race. This lap was fast enough to secure a track record at the time, showcasing just how competitive and thrilling the SCCA racing scene can be. The adrenaline rush of navigating the turns and straights, paired with the precise handling of the Protegé, made this one of the standout moments of my racing career.
Mechanical Trouble
Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived. Shortly after achieving that fast lap, mechanical problems arose, forcing us out of the endurance race. In this video, I’ll discuss the issues we faced and the lessons learned, emphasizing the importance of vehicle maintenance and preparation in racing.
Remembering the Turtle
As if the day couldn’t get any more eventful, we also experienced a very unexpected moment on the track. During the race, a turtle made a daring dash across the track and was unfortunately hit by another race car. It was a surreal and somber moment, reminding us of the unpredictable nature of racing and wildlife intersections. RIP to our little friend!
Looking Ahead
Even though this race presented its challenges, I’m determined to come back stronger and go for the win next time. There's always more time to be gained and lessons to be learned on the track, and I look forward to the next opportunity to compete!
