I still don’t understand why Avanti West Coast have refurbished the Class 221 Voyagers even though they are due to be replaced by the Class 805 IETs that Avanti West Coast have ordered and are schedule to enter service from next year or in 2023. At least they are refurbishing the Class 390 Pendolinos. And have ordered the Class 807 that will mainly be used on London Euston-Glasgow Central, Edinburgh Waverley, Blackpool North and Liverpool Lime Street. Maybe the AWC Class 221 could probably be cascaded to CrossCountry. Or if not then perhaps they could be cascaded to Grand Central, Transport for Wales, ScotRail, Transpennine Express, Great Western Railway or South Western Railway.
Their refurbishment was long overdue and I'm glad it's been done - the customer experience is much enhanced. It's not known what they will become after their life with Avanti finishes, but CrossCountry seems the most likely reciever atm
