Torsion clocks are very precise clocks, running an entire year on the same power that other clocks need to run a week. They can only do this by having all their rubbing surfaces cleaned and polished. Normally they do not need parts except for the suspension spring. Cleaning and polishing comes first. The repair process is shown and explained in my video in a 2 dvd set. About 6 hours. Its takes longer to teach it than to do it. Thanks for Asking Al Takatsch

This man is most certainly an expert in the field of anniversary clock repair. Of that, there can be no doubt. This video appears to be oriented towards those who are at least somewhat familiar with anniversary clock repair and mechanical clocks. Some of the terminology used will no doubt become clear for pre-novices to the extent we study clock repair. It would have been great to have had this venue 45 years ago seeing my great grandparents' anniversary clock. These clocks, at least for me, represent the epitome of mechanical engineering based on designs going back to Newton and beyond. Thank you for sharing this excellent video!

Hi, 400 day anniversary clocks were the hardest I ever worked on! I've repaired clocks since I was in my early teens. Unfortunately it is no longer my profession, I however still repair them from home. The major issue I had with these clocks was getting the suspension spring correct, too long or short and the clock won't run! I'm old school, I used to let the springs down by hand, remove them by hand and put them back in by hand! It hurt but that's just the way I was taught! Good job. Dylan

good video good explanation! I would also like to add a excellent running schatz that is textbook perfect. my favorite type of clock I try to stay away from any other type. in my experience most real clock repair shops do not like torsion clocks. even though they really are the simplest to take down. and few ever need pivot repair.

hello I got a 400 day clock it looks really clean but when I let the pendulum go it keeps on stopping. I winded it still doesn't work any ideas
