True, but the one he had on the door was actually a better strike due to the multiple screws, unless its a softer metal which I doubt it is because the lower quality strikes usually only have 2 screw holes with short screws.

The batteries still last about a year. Yes, in the app it shows the active codes and you can delete or add at anytime. It also has a log show what code was used at what time. But, now Schlage has a newer lock. It’s got built in WiFi that connects directly to your phone via their app. No 3rd party hub needed. Plus a new app. If I were you, I’d get their new Encode smart WiFi deadbolt.

You can use a code or a key to get in. Either way works. No one is going to take the time to hack your lock. It’s easier to just take a rock and smash your window.

@@locoboof I agree if we are talking about leaving in house, but for the apartments in buildings hacking the lock appears as the only way for breaking in. I am looking for smart lock door system which is going to prevent using only the manual key. Kind of two step authentication, the code to allow using the manual key which makes dependent of each other and resolve the issue of vulnerability of hacking the manual key.

Not that I know of, but you can set it to auto lock. It will lock itself 30 seconds after it's unlocked.

The BE469's software is very much capable of "Scheduling" access codes, but it solely depends on whether or not the Z-Wave hub that you have it paired with allows that level of programmability.

The bolt can accommodate 2 3/8" and 2 3/4" which are the two proper sizes you'll find on all most doors in North America. Some doors have a 5" which was popular back in the day but I have never seen a door drilled for 3".

Still using it and love it. I have two on my house and it’s nice not having to carry keys. Or if I forget something I don’t have to turn my car off to run in the house. Same with going for a jog.... no keys.... I love it. I had a house guest and didn’t have to give them a key either. Just gave them a code and deleted it after.

@@locoboof Thanks for the quick reply. I'm researching the best smart lock and network set up for an Airbnb property that will require guest self check-in. Schlage Connect seems like a great value, but I'm concerned about Z-Wave and needing a hub (verses a true mesh network like Google Wi-Fi). Reviews indicate that they're hit or miss. The majority of Wink 2 and Samsung SmartThings negative comments (there are many) revolve around sporadic loss of connection. I'm not sure I can risk that for a property that I'll be away from. I'm leaning toward a higher cost, true wifi smart lock. Is there any specific reason why you chose a Wink 2 over Samsung SmartThings, and a Z-Wave smart lock over a wifi smart lock like a Nest x Yale? Thanks.

I also have had no connectivity issues and I'm still using the original first gen Wink. From what I understand Wink 2 is a little faster.

You need to buy a wink hub (it will connect it the internet) and then program this lock to pair it with the wink hub via z-wave. Then from the wink app you can control the lock.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. How do I put this lock in pair mode? I have the Vivint Sky Panel which works with Z-wave. And I can't figure out how to put the lock in pair mode. My Sky Panel is not picking up any devices.

The instructions tell you how to pair it. Also, you can go to their website and look. They have videos. They also have videos on RU-vid from the manufacturer

Yes. But, now Schlage makes new smart door locks that work directly with your WiFi. No hub needed.

Sounds like something was wrong with that hub. I use the wink hub 2 on WiFi with no problems

Smartthings by samsung is my choice. This unit runs Zwave which works with most mainstream systems.
