I actually made a challenge lock out of one of these. awesome job running through it👍👍👍. I didn't give it a name, but told the person if they could pick it open, they could name it.

WHHHHYYYY!!!!!! Why don't they chuck in some spools at least???? It's just missing security pins to make it a very cool lock. Nicely picked, both times 😊👍🏻

Since I learned to pick, every keyhole I see I think 'hmmm I bet I could pick that.' I use this lock IRL and figured that little notch on the key was something naughty. Now when I look at that keyhole I'll think 'yeah I could pick that.' 😎

They are made to tighter tolerances than standard residential Schlages, and with that check pin, they make a fun platform for challenge locks, too. With that key bitting, I'd throw a set of your Scrooge pins in it and see how long it takes to get in for the fun of it.

Nicely done. That "check" pin was a new one on me, never seen that before in a schlage. The whole thing is filthy, needs a bath in acetone or something. That was a lot of master wafers, no wonder it was a 6 pin with that check pin....to compensate for all the wafers.

I like schlage Everest, they are not high security but you can't pick them like a master no3 or a kwikset. And the blanks are more restricted (yes you can buy them on eBay but Walmart and Menards won't have them)

When it comes to Schlage I prefer Primus but any step up in security over big box Schlages and their knock offs is a good thing.

Up to the one master wafer making a break for freedom, i thought they were all a strange version of "t", or mushroom pins. I did chuckle at that. Nicely picked (both times), and thanks for the explanation of that secret pin. Hope you're over the plague, and feeling proper!

Man it's so cool to watch you, this! Pretty much all my attempts have most all my tools bent.... I really try try to go light and easy, but seldom can I ever get any of my test locks to move without bending my tools. Mostly lost any ideas of doing this at my advanced age, but still like watching. Wish I had your skills!!!

Are your tools made out of good material? Some cheaper ones do bend or snap far too easily.

I’ve found the most effective tool for holding the cylinder cap pin down while unscrewing the cylinder cap is a simple ball point pen.

Haha sometimes when I zone out and gut one for like the school or whatever, the check pin will shoot off and ill be crawling on the floor looking for it (did the same to a primus once that was a PITA)

Also if that is the operating key, isn't it mastered wrong? If I understood correctly where the wafers are, the master key would be 2 depths lower at each pin which means you could file the operating key down to a master. (It looked like those were all #2 wafers... I think that is frowned upon too)
