Goalkeeping legends Peter Schmeichel and Oliver Kahn talk about the Champions League Final, Manchester United's 2-1 win over Bayern Munich, 26th May 1999. This time they chat all about the fans.
After the game Kahn says they went to the hotel and he was impressed with the United fans and how they acted to their opponents and says that would never happen in Germany.
Peter says United were treated very well when they played Dortmund. He never played for United with any empty seats. He’s very impressed with German fans - they’re what English fans used to be for creating atmosphere.
Peter even says German fans asked for your autograph after the game and that was a normal occurrence.
It's football gold, Manchester United's 2-1 win over Bayern Munich, 26th May 1999. Manchester United and Bayern Munich had only met twice in competitive matches before the '99 final, so anything could happen. But after a dodgy start United snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
