am i the only person that still hates dissipation? the whole point of the sch is the fairy helping in combat then theres an awkward ability that... orders it away? sure a bit of healing spell potency increase but you lose access to all your fairy abilities. no regen, fey blessing, fey illumination, fairy tether, seraph / consolation and now the OP seraphism. like can we pls rework or change it?
Yes, you are the only person who hates the strongest healing/shielding buff in your kit lol. 20% healing buff is insane and I almost always use it for shields. If you use Fey Illumination before dissipating your fairy (the buff stays), and follow by recitation>adlo>deployment tactics, you will get the thickest shields on your party. If you wanna go crazy, or if your party has a bunch of vuln stacks before a party wide, add protraction to the mix and the result is BEAUTIFUL crits. It’s a long combo, but sch needs to know the fight to play well anyway, so it’s incredibly useful for high end content. Fey illumination> protraction> dissipation>recitation>adlo>deployment tactics = second banana health bars for the whole party ;)
7:02 - So in other words, during Seraphism, SCH can poop out a new 432 (non-crits) potency partywide barrier every 2.5 sec as an instant cast while WHM gets a single 400 potency party barrier every 2 mins after Temperance AND SCH can use Emergency Tactics to, instead, do raw healing of 672 AOE potency instead, eclipsing Cure 3? Granted, it's a CD, but good LORD is that powerful!
SCH MY BABYYYY!!!! Please, Cole, tell me Selene/Eos are actually fixed an are not making microwave noises!!! Also curious about Seraphism, still not 100% on the look, but it looks better from the front (Reminds me of Eden Ryne primal form). How does it feel to play?
It still doesn’t fix the experience in Roulettes. SCH: (Casts Seraphism) Behold the culmination of ALL my power!!! SGE: (Overwrites with unbuffed E.Prog) Haha, E.Prog goes brrr!
@@toodleselnoodos6738 yea seraphism is nice cd but becomes godlike when your co healer is dead and you are dumping mana bar to keep everyone alive 😆 its gonna be great for your that particular scenario
@@locket9160 Also if they have high mobile intense healing needed. Rubicante EX’s Brands, this is just convenience. Or Gale Sphered 2. Like Seraphism is absolutely good, but it’s probably gonna be a dead button in Roulettes beyond “guess I’ll do another HoT”.
With this... SCH has the most healing output bar-none. Instant cast aoe heal + shields for *20 seconds*. There is no mechanic that lasts that long, let alone needing that much healing. They better add damage for SCH to be healing, or this is an incredibly excessive healing capability. Wow... I mean, Im going to have fun healing, but there better be damage to heal.
I’m also in the camp of loving the visual theme of Seraphism. I know some people really wanted the ability to have a tactician’s visuals, but personally I think the ability does well to blend the two themes of being a tactician with a Seraph summon. The function of the ability satisfies my tactician fantasy, you enter a state where you can unleash your tactics unburdened by limitations. Meanwhile, the visual of the ability satisfies my ‘Commanding Seraph’ fantasy as, in order to enter this state, you must ascend to a Seraphic form that can handle the mental burden (just like how we upgrade our fairy to Seraph). My only criticism is that I wish the execution of the visuals was better. I feel that, although the effects of the spell casts look great, the angel costume is lacking. I wished we could have had a transformation closer to something like FF7’s Sephiroth. Ok, maybe not EXACTLY Safer Sephiroth, but something more biblical to put in mind that we are ascending would have been nice. Maybe some VFX too, perhaps God rays and clouds idk.
they could literally just increase the potency of Energy Drain and add a stacking effect. The more you use in a row, the stronger they are and maybe they add a status effect and a final burst if you burn all three at once. It would give us more DPS and will prevent us from sitting on AF stacks in high end fights we will have to make a decision whehter to pump more DPS or save for heals
@@nararanaraiii2022 for scholar there would be because a lot of big heals use Aetherflow and having to decide when they can be used for DPS and when they need to be used for heals would be a key part of the job. But I was also thinking a little more in depth than that. Like at lvl 52 Energy Drain could turn into Aether Syphon with 20 second cooldown. The skill is instant cast and uses one aetherflow stack. It is a 300 Heal potency to you and nearby allies and a 300 potency unaspected damage to all nearby enemies. At lvl 74 you gain the Secrets of Nym trait which adds plague markers to your Faerie Gauge. Each use of Aether Syphon builds the Green Death markers until you have three stacks and can transform your Faerie into a Tonberry. the Tonberry rushes a target and uses Karmic Grudge, Deals unaspected damage to target and all enemies nearby it with a potency of 1,240 for the first enemy, and 50% less for all remaining enemies. Your Faerie returns after 30 secs.
I will mod the dumbass tablecloth look away. If I ever use this Seraphism it will be for the AoE regen and keep broiling. I will not cosplay as a WHM, the whole reason I play as a SCH is because of its military academic.
Its kinda lame that the animation doesnt change to flying instead of walking. When i saw the showcase trailer i thought it was like crystalizing the skin and stuff too
Yup I've fangirled about that since the media tour! Even just that perk alone (which doesn't dismiss the fairy) is great it's like having dissipation but for "free" (arguable with 3min cd, but no dismissal of the fairy is nice!). Seraphism is genuinely bonkers. The amount of big barriers Scholar will be able to deploy regularily is... wholly hilarious.
@@ColeEvyx Considering how many single-healer or even NO-HEALER runs we've been seeing recently for Savage and Ultimate, I wouldn't be surprised if the new healer meta for DT is just "Scholar" 😆
I wish I could justify playing sch, because it has some cool stuff, but sage does all the same things so much smoother: free movement without potency loss, defensive tools that are instant instead of requiring 5 seconds to setup, idle generation of resources instead of needing to cast aetherflow, ogd heals that are truly free instead of costing dmg, having all your stuff available instead of having half of your toolkits disappear when your fairy is gone, or when your fairy is big so she can only do half the stuff, or when you are the fairy so you cannot eat the fairy. I love fat shields but I’m not willing to give up all the comforts for only one good thing 😢
Angel wings on scholar doesn’t make sense….on white mage maybe but not on strategic book worm scholar. Now at first I was like wow cool shiny and now that clarity kicks in I’m like yea wrong job lol. Maybe more fairies or fairy wings but why copy white mage? It’s like such low hanging fruit to just copy and rehash something from another job that already has that a part of their identity.
WHM has had "light" as a gimmick, yeah. but SCH has had angel stuff specifically since shadowbringers when summon seraph became a thing. Sure temperance phase gave WHM wings, but not angel wings with feathers.
Still not a huge fan of Seraphism, but it does look way better than i initially thought. Glad I get to remain Hrotghar 😁 I can live with this I find it suprising that Scholar still have 3 min CDs, since everything else seems pushed to 1 or 2 mins
@@shaunmil Yeah, I enjoyed the early thematic tone of Sch, magic but more.... academically powered i guess lol. with the fairy being the driving force. The seraphim stuff and now this is kind meh to me.
@@Exeeter1234 If you go on the forums, there's actually like 7 threads asking for it either to be removed or made a toggle, so take comfort that you're actually in the majority haha.
Based on what I've been reading, you are not in the minority. From the theme to the concept of having an empowered form, it just doesn't fit *SCHOLAR.* Dragoon? Absolutely. White Mage? Debatable. Scholar, the job known for having a military theme and whose magic is efficient, rather than over the top like White and Black Mage? Absolutely not.
I decided a while ago I would main SCH in DT purely because I view it as my characters "default" job and she being a nerdy archeologist seems to fit the theming of the expansion and just hearing all I feel pretty vindicated in that decision.
Down to 1 minute now. Unless Adloquium got a potency buff, it essentially means: Recitation + Concitation (540p shield) = Adloquium + Deployment Tactics (540p shield) So, SCH doesn’t really get any big power, they just get more flexibility. Something that doesn’t matter in the current Encounters. It seems someone at CBU3 hates SCH’s fat shields and is trying to make them more pure regen healer again like in ShB.
@@toodleselnoodos6738 If you're saying scholar isn't getting any power upgrade, are you ignoring that Seraphism raises the potency of both Adlo and Concitation in their seraphism versions? It's not a huge potency increase, but that then gets multiplied for shield or even more for a crit adlo.
@@toodleselnoodos6738We don't need fatter shields tho? And versatility is a good thing, which is probably why they are adding more healing. I think Scholar will be great and giving more tools that benefit smart players is the way to go.
Well unless the tooltips are wrong, Concitation has the same effect and potency as the existing Succor. So either they forgot to change the tooltip (likely) or they nerfed Succor to give us a false upgrade (unlikely - they have given wrong potencies in media tour before)
I still don't like dissipation and I think they could of come up with something better. Idk I still hate dissipation and want that skill to get reworked. Or Atleast if I eat my fairy that it, it resummons in the spot I ate it in.
still want to be abel to chose if u want to use the fairy or not, like yeah u can make her go away for a time being but i want to just choose do i want the fairy yes or no
My plan for my SCH rotation: Aetherflow -> Biolysis -> Pop Chain Stratagem -> Pop Not-Miasma II -> Broil IV -> Ruin 2 -> Energy Drain -> Broil IV -> Ruin 2 -> Energy Drain -> Broil IV -> Ruin 2 -> Energy Drain -> Eat the Faerie -> Broil IV -> Ruin 2 -> Energy Drain -> Broil IV -> Ruin 2 -> Energy Drain -> Broil IV -> Ruin 2 -> Energy Drain I removed the Aetherflow abilities from my hot bar except Excog and Energy Drain and Excog is my backup plan. It was all in an effort to improve SCH by nerfing myself and using Dissipation & Energy Drain to help my DPS feel less monotonous. If we're effectively getting the ability to supercharge the healing skills I still use, it's made the skills I've removed even more redundant. Though...admittedly, I am still kinda grumbling that SCH's pure healing is getting even better after the whole "we're bringing back the distinction of Pure healing and shield healing", which I felt didn't work because functionally, it didn't matter that AST & WHM were better pure healers because the healing requirements didn't really make SCH or SGE struggle with pure healing to rely on their shields. At least for the vast majority of content. I didn't do Savage this expansion, so I cannot comment there as I've slipped down into a semi-casual player. I was able to make my SCH more of a shield healer by removing the skills that may me a better pure healer.
Cole I love watching your videos but can you please look up how to say words before you make your videos because sometimes it’s so hard to watch when you say things wrong like “seraphism” and “seraph.” Seraph is not like giraffe. Seraph is like SARE-uff and seraphism is like SARE-uf-ism.
As a person that loves healing and hates DPSing...I get some people miss old SB SCH's kit, but I'm honestly happy we AREN'T getting the SGE treatment. Chain has a follow-up oGCD weave and otherwise I'm left alone while also given a BONKERS new healing tool. I'm super happy about SCH and WHM's changes, and will be maining them both in DT. I'll leave SGE to the people that want to do more DPSing. Everyone wins. Well, most everyone...
i mean that is nice and all but aren't we now the least mobile healer basically? at least in terms of damage uptime? whm can move lossless with afflatusses, glare IV during burst (there have been multiple instances of heavy movement during burst this tier) and is getting an en avant, sage has a plethora of ways and AST has lightspeed for extended periods of movement like superchain. we have... ruin II? which is falling even further behind in potency as it looks now. it seems i am the only one who would have loved something like phlegma (balls)?
Agreed. I was hoping for a system like smn has. Like every used AF upgrades ruin 2 to ruin X which is is same potency as broil but instant and last for 60s. That would give scholar the same amount of instants as whm and sage.
Can you people just like, leave the game or stop playing healers please? Complaining about your DPS as a HEALER is embarrassing as fuck lol what, you crying because you do 1% less damage meaning the boss dies 0.9 seconds slower? grow up pathetic try hards lol
I still don’t like how seraphism makes characters look, but it does sound powerful and fun. Baneful Impaction seems okay but what I’d really like to see is the PVP version of Deployment Tactics (acts like Bane on enemies) and ideally another DoT.
