Paul Scholes, like all of his peers, are bitter haters. Period. They were part of the once proud ManU team but they've amounted to absolute nothing since. When Germany won the world cup, Mesut Ozil who had been Germany's best player for 3 years in a row was deployed as a left winger. Obviously that wasn't his best position but because of the system Low wanted to play, that was the most balanced way of deploying what they had. Playing Bukayo Saka as a left wing back is not an out of this world idea. The system is so poor.

Look, Saka hasn't played LB for over 3 years. This is not the time to experiment. I would rather Saka hold bench than try something stupid. Anyway, why LB? why not LW? If holding width is the problem and Southgate will bring Palmer at RW while keeping foden then there is no point, Saka can play LW instead and you can play foden off the right. He is the only winger in that england team who has shown to do it without much support off the wings. It's not Saka's problem that Southgate didn't take a proper LB to a tournament. Taking 2 teenagers at midfield who have had decent half seasons. It's also a Southgate problem if Foden is completely infective at LW, there is no way jude is getting dropped for foden to play CAM. There is a clear lack of understanding that there is no point in harming Saka's reputation who is often times targeted for absolutely cheap reasons. Southgate is the problem. The biggest problem is not playing Gordon on the left. If he does that, England will immediately start play much better. Cuz Both wingers will start functioning better, the number 8 will start to control the game, and Rice will get enough time and space to move the ball quickly from wing to wing. Saka and Walker will also enough space and time. Southgate's biggest mistake is repeatedly playing Foden on the left.

For me its Gareth Southgate tactics is not bringing the best out of these players. He said on a press conference he is experimenting, but the media will forget that and try to blame players

Maybe the coach, Southgate, should tell Foden and Trippier to do their job. Instead of moving their 2-time player of the year out of position. If these players (Trippier and Foden) are so good, why can’t they figure it out. At the risk of comparing England, and by extension, Southgate with Pep, Foden plays on the left sometime at Man City and excels at it. So why can’t he do the ‘simple’ thing of holding the width. We all know he is a good dribbler and a good coach would find ways to make him excel. Just drop Saka and Rice to the bench and let their new boys play on this team and see if it’s not much worse. Saka should move to the left wing and foden to the right. Saka will not drift in and is a left footer whilst foden drifting won’t be felt as much cause walker can overlap or even maino also interchanging on that side

Arsenal fan here. But I do feel Saka and Rice are overrated. I blame Arteta for destroying Saka's potential. He looked so good a couple of seasons back when he played on the left wing. And Rice may be the best in the world at interceptions and recoveries but that's just not enough to be called a world class midfielder.
