Is it better to use shutter dampers or actuator one for axial smoke extraction? Is there any thumb formula for calculating cfm and power of the smoke extraction fan by knowing parameters of atruim? 🙂 Is Atruimcalc reliable ?
2:21 if that's an EF; shouldn't it have a safety guard? I have a site with a few of those; and they will both suck the chrome off a trailer hitch; and turn you into tech-tartare.
You would think there would be a guard I guess they don't think it's necessary since it's not accessible to anyone other than maintenance staff that should know better but you would still think there would be something
Is that a smoke evacuation or building pressurization system? You mentioned it opens the doors to allow fresh air in the direction of the exit which makes sense for life safety which I would think would mean your fans are extractors. Wondering why the dampers to the left of the fan weren’t opening?
No, I have a longer video explaining the system and why it’s there and the gyms have no need as it doesn’t have any stairwells or bridges that could fill with smoke being higher to the ceiling in a atrium
@@nics-systems-electric Oh ok. i would be rather terrified to walk in a hallway that has the openings for those fans because it would feel as if the air blowing is just trying to pin me to the ground with all it's force
They were put there during Covid so people knew which entrance they were supposed to use they don't really need to be there anymore as they actually make it more confusing for fire department or other emergency responders as the numbers put on the door do not correspond with the actual stairwell number in some cases

Not at all, I would recommend you watch the video explaining their purpose. they do not control fire or heat that is the purpose of the sprinkler system these are to control smoke. there has to be a delay to give time for make up air doors to open otherwise the building will be under significant negative pressure pressure and would be very difficult to evacuate.
