While many students are excited school is out for the summer, it’s a worrisome time for school staff, knowing that there are record numbers of children experiencing homelessness in Tampa Bay. Melissa Babanats has been working in the Hillsborough County Public School District (HCPS) for almost two decades, now as the principal at Lewis Elementary School, with one of the district’s highest populations of students living below the poverty line and experiencing homelessness.

Think of all the multi billionaires who hoard their money, are given tax breaks, and spend lavishly on themselves….who could help support programs that aid homeless children.

I've been a carpenter for 28 years and my kids go to private school because I work on billionaires houses. I live in an $850k house that i remodeled, with a $750 per month mortgage. and all my vehicles and tools are paid for. I own property in another state, and a house in the Bahamas because I like to fish and surf. I have a small boat. I'm not even 50 yet. All thanks to being able to work for billionaires.

@@francismarion6400 how is this relevant to the current generation of workers? Did you have to get a job during a global pandemic? how about during the worst period of western inflation in our country's short history? Were you forced to get credit cards with more than 36% APR? Did you have to apply for a mortgage on a home that was inflated by 500%? Did you get rejected by dozens of financial institutions due to companies being too scared to take risks after their partner branches started closing? Congrats on being financially secure but the hard reality is that the vast majority of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, have empty savings accounts, and are in debt. The same financially insecure Americans that have to pay deductions on their income; unlike the corrupt, tax dodging billionaires you work for.

America's history of homeless graduates is shocking and surprising! Let's congratulate them for their academic achievement(s)! 🧑‍🎓 ... I, James T. Van Engen, am the 2nd homeless graduate of an accredited university in the U.S.A.; class of 2005, and scholar. I didn't quite make valedictorian. Liz Murry is the first homeless U.S. graduate from an accredited university; class of 1986. It took America apprx. 210 years to break-free from the greed and corruption in education institutions that either disallowed homeless graduates, or used the homeless only for the economic gains of education institutions, then flunked-out. I am always proud of homeless graduates. 🙂 Do you also know an American homeless grad? When I was enrolled at university, homeless scholarships didn't exist. Let's build a support network and list of credible witnesses and evidence!
