God I wish I was raised in japan to get accustomed to the way students in japan do what they do. Doing everything on their own etc helps build character and responsibility and students in the us don’t do anything but go to school and are expected to learn and thats it. School was never something I was excited for ever because the vibe always felt dull and heartless, students have no motivation for learning and people try to slide by passing school by cheating and getting answers from others. Nothing was earned, just pure laziness and everyone wanted to just do what they always do and gossip, start drama, maybe start viral fist fights, get on their phones, etc. i was always that person who felt so socially awkward because I never fit in to any group because I never wanted to be part of that negative vibe. I remember watching japanese highschool vloggers a couple years ago and remembering me wishing that I was in a japanese school. I love their customs. Being very well mannered and responsible too. Setting up their own lunches, brushing their teeth afterwards, greeting in the morning and later in the day, cleaning after school. Great video btw and keep up the great work ♥️

good to know! I guess it really depends on the school and area

logiebear love its that way all over. I’ve been to schools up and down the east coast. From the chilly north to the hot south. Middle school all classes you change your class per subject. In rule areas such as Alaska would be different...

In the vast majority of middle and high schools in America, they have a teacher specialized to one subject but the teacher stays in their own classroom. It is the students who walk from class to class depending on their schedule. This is because different students have different classes even if they’re in the same grade level depending on their intelligence.
@HUEMOB
@HUEMOB Год назад
yes thats how it was for me and its nice being able to pick our classes to a small degree. plus the change in scenery and the short breaks inbetween classes really helps being stuck in the same room same chair for a whole day is just torture

I like the way you explain the differences without too much judgement. You contrasted not compared!

I was born in Japan and I loved the school in Japan. After that I lived in Hawaii, school was really different there uniform for catholic school but later on in public school no uniform but the building were not attached,to get to your next class you have to walk outside to the next building. Moved to Utah and the elementary school there was on “track” schedule so there was A,B,C,D track. Each had different start days of school and different breaks. Middle school was 7-9th high school was 10-12. So far everything you said was accurate. I was only in Japan till I was 6 than back when I was 10 and back to Hawaii and since than lived most my life in Utah. It’s crazy how different it is everywhere but so far I miss Japan school but was never fond of the uniform that separate gender. Like girls have to wear skirts. That should be a choice. Other than that when I was little I walked to school alone most the time or with friends. I don’t remember schools having buses. I did love learning kanji and building a pinball table. Oh I lived in Okinawa.

Xander Tateyama in one school the transgender students only 7 of them, forced the school to go gender neutral. Huge outrage for this because they ban skirts because of the median vote. Which isn’t fair at all. The parents protested so hard and threatened to pull their students from the school. Which if they lose the students their funding will change. Snapped the school back into allowing skirts. Girls can wear tights that are warm. I don’t agree with making everyone wearing one thing. I’m against gender neutral clothing.

@romanr.301 3 года назад
@@MzClementine Then don't wear it yourself. But don't force everyone else to conform to gendered clothing. Also, sounds more like a them-problem. Imagine being outraged at gender neutral clothing.

In the Philippines, we usually change our teacher every subject and need to greet the teacher before and after each period :D Teachers also have their desks in what we say a faculty room~ School usually starts at July, then will have a one week break in November then another two-week break in December for Christmas and New Year then the year ends in March. Our hottest season is during April and June so we will have a two-month vacation~

I taught for EPIK in Korea and basically everything is the same, except we had AC/ heat in class (although we could only use them if it was really hot). Sports day was also on a school day, not a weekend. My elementary school's also all had cafeterias but I do know that some don't have them.

For me, I'd say because it's beautiful, Japan is more technologically advanced, people have a completely different mindset there (kids here in the U.S don't respect anyone and don't care about school). I feel like if I was born in Japan and went to school there, I would have learned a lot more. Of course, there would be a few bad teachers or students here and there, but I feel like it would happen less often.

I remember Silent Time but not as you describe it :). In my school in England, if you did something wrong and were punished, you went to what was called 'Detention' which was a lesson after school hours. When I managed to get this, I (and several others from all years) had to sit for 45 minutes in complete silence, doing nothing. I never forgot it.

I’m from Wales in the UK School starts in September for primary and secondary and ends in July apart from Year 11 it ends in June (after GCSE exams). Primary is split up in to 2: Infants Years 1&2 Juniors 3-6 Secondary: Years 7-11. Years 3-9 do SAT exams Years 10 & 11 GCSE exams. In some Secondary schools you have to stand when an adult enters the room, however I think this is starting to go out of style. In primary and secondary you have to put your hand up to answer. Heating is hardly on when it’s cold. Uniform must be worn apart from non school uniform days, in some schools tie are also worn. In primary discos are held in the school hall in the evening on a school day. Secondary Year 11 prom (idea from the US) Same clubs all year round there’s sports, hobbies and study clubs some clubs are only available for certain years In primary lunch is in the school hall only infants eat first while juniors are playing, then they swap. In Secondary lunch is in the canteen, outside, assembly hall and in the school I went to during rainy days some classrooms are kept open

You know that Japanese schools do not have janitors? They, the students, post-class wiped it out through themselves.
