damn right! and he is up there and IS proud. and maybe he also sees all those unnecessary wannabe gangster rapper kids that few people are insulting as musicians these days and rolls his eyes :D
@@Agent-007 And the brilliant part is that even dumbass comments like yours are still comments that feed the YT algorithm and gets these kids more coverage in the search. Oh, do you have an example of your musical talent to share for comparison? No? Thought not...
The 3-part back harmonies are absolutely killer, the three guitar players were seamless, the rhythm section was rock solid, the piano player has great touch (while leading the whole thing) and the lead singer brought it all home - beautifully. I’ve been playing for over 40 years, so I’m qualified to say: this is next-level awesome. Great job everyone!
Covering Freddie Mercury and Queen doing anything, let alone this masterpiece, is next to impossible. But again SOR gets it done! Respect to everyone on this wonderful performance.
Freddie would be proud. He actually encouraged people to cover his songs and even approved of parodies. These kids nailed yet another classic song while most usually fail at such an attempt. The lead singer sings her heart and soul out here. I think these kids would have loved to have lived in the 1970s when this music was an everyday thing.
@@groverrambo1498 I always keep my eye out for them doing another song or songs that I know (those later than 2000 I'm not familiar with) Most covers of old classics are often poorly done but these kids are always spot on.
As a woman learning bass who is obsessed with Queen, I’m loving seeing a fellow chick rocking the Deacon bass lines! Lots of talent from this group. A great tribute to a great classic, the lead vocalist did a wonderful job putting some of her own twists on it. The lead killed it on that guitar solo! Lots of energy from the drummer!! Really seriously great performance!
Preach! I too am a woman who learnt the bass because of Queen and John Deacon! Bass girls unite! :D Whats your favourite Deaky bass line? Mine is The Millionaires Waltz! Utter perfection! :)
I’d love to hear the vocalist do something else. There was a serious growl there in amongst that and I think something a little more angsty would be awesome to hear!! Also, the young lady on bass is massively underrated. Killer lines, tones and timing!!
I'm a huge Queen fan and I came into this thinking it was going to be a mistake, that they wouldn't have anyone able to sing Freddie. But in fact, I was the one who was mistaken. This girl crushed it! Great job!
This is what I love about the SOR program, many people will cover a classic song and strive to be note for note perfect (and there is nothing wrong with that). But SOR is encouraging these kids to learn the songs and then make them their own! And to be honest I think some of these songs are even better then the original! 😀
Amen. I was in a band in the 70's and early 80's these are my song's. I would have benefited and all of my band members from something like this but all we had was the school band teacher would spend some time away from school with us.
I'm not quite sure what to say, I was blown away on so many levels. I guess the only right thing to say is, that was tremendous!!! That is an unbelievably hard song to get right, but you all did it. All the vocals were spot on. The harmonies that sound so easy when someone else is doing them, are infinitely harder when it is you that has to carry off the 3rd and 4th harmonies in live time. Queen did it using massive amounts of layering and never attempted it live. The guitar players were all outstanding and I especially enjoyed the Lefty in the bunch. I loved hearing the contrasts between all your guitars in sound and style. The bass player, was awesome!!! She added so much in terms of style and sound, I was blown away. Keyboard guy excellent, the melody line hung on you and you nailed it spot on. Drums were awesome, you played and kept everyone going in the same direction, all while doing the little things that flavored your style, without drawing attention to yourself. Finally, the lead singer, I felt every bit of your performance. Your voice was beautiful and full of conviction, you made this your version. Tough to do with an iconic song like this where the temptation to sound like Freddie is always trying to assert itself. I will be making trips back to this version in the future 'cause it restores my faith in the fact that this generation is giving music it's due. Thank you all of you!!!
I hope all the members of Queen have seen this! A fitting tribute if ever, I’ve seen one! These young people took on a big challenge and pulled it off 100%!
way better than I expected! Lead singer was super and gorgeous too! Would love to hear her sing more. Bass player very good and all did very well. Great job students!!
i enjoy seeing them having the opportunity to work it, and perform it, with professional sound/video work. They will have to be proud of this prodction. Good on them.
These kids did a good job of covering this classic. Bohemian Rhapsody is probably one of the hardest songs to cover, not due to the difficulty but rather because everyone will automatically compare it to the iconic original by Queen. Also, get them some drive pedals for the guitars, it was a bit lacking there.
Loved it---even though I never paid much attention to this song, back in the day. I know they all really have talent, but I give the most credit to whoever put these young musicians together, and helped them synchronize their talents to make this recording sound as good as it does.
4:10 "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye So you think you can love me and leave me to die Oh baby, can't do this to me baby Just gotta get out, just gotta get right out of here" and the chords coming after, 'till 4:37 ... 27 little seconds... bringing the song to its climax... 27 seconds summing up the amazing talent and quality of these young musicians... unforgettable! A gem on the crown of perfection ...
This group never ceases to amaze me. I have to admit that I prefer some of their versions to the originals...just awesome no matter what original group they are singing songs from.
Hell, I loved it -- let the nitpickers go back to picking nits after commenting that *high school folks* aren't pre-zactly and ex-cisely like Queen, in studio.
Really good. I miss the pathos and anguish of the Freddie Mercury part, which may be a result of the studio somehow. impeccable guitar work and keyboard. You all are excellent.
I didn't have high expectations for this cover (not many covers of this great song are good), but it was, and please believe me when I say I use this word sparingly, awesome. Jolly well done!
nov 1991 was a sad unforgettable day in music, but may 2019 he shines to warm our hearts and our youth to share the love to us all, today.thanks to the school of rock
Damn, I think I'm in love! What a talented group of young musicians. They've nailed a classic rock song, paying immense respect to Freddy and to Queen but making it their own. In the words of Oliver from Oliver Twist: Please, Sir, I want some more.
Words are simply not enough to fully express just how brilliant this is! Every element, the vocals, instrumentals, acoustic environment, arrangement, direction, mixing, camera, editing . . . . just WOW!
That was a first-class performance of an extremely difficult composition! I really enjoyed this -- every part of the complex construction of the song was there. Especial praise for the lead singer, who just rocked this performance. What a confident, stylish and emotional take on this -- it was a worthy tribute to Freddie Mercury. This ensemble really had a lot of talent.
BR is an incredibly hard song to perform, that's why Freddie and Queen were unreplaceable, so I didn't have high expectations but It was pretty good. A few timing issues in some parts but pretty good. Defiantly need some more grit and passion but pretty good for what it was.
only thing i don't like is that many-a-original-male-song-lead is sung by girls because they don't think they can get a male with that high of a voice or whatever. I have heard there are plenty of male singers to choose from and the collection of male artists at School of Rock is vast.
I would imagine most Queen songs would be difficult to cover because of Freddie's vocal style. Glad this girl didn't even try to replicate Freddie and put her own spin on it. Great job, kids. Keep it up.
I keep coming back to this performance. The singer has great range, the guitarists are spot-on, the drummer and bassist never miss a lick and the background singers nail it. The recording engineer is to be given kudos for capturing the sound and mixing it perfectly. The one thing that would be cool would be to have isolated cameras for the singer and the rest. I've seen a video by the Corrs where that was done. It's cool getting to watch everyone contributing their part to make a great recording.
I don't know who the instructors are teaching these kids, but they need a raise. Both the vocals and musicianship skills of these kids are way beyond their years, some people twice their age are not half as good as they are.
These kids do so many phenomenal covers. It's hard to pick my favorite. I think, however, that this is it. Even though I got to do the boards for Kansas in ractice one night (what an honor), I think I'll pick this one. Part of it is the fullness of the sound - I do not envy the guy on the board (superb job). Some of the other covers seem a bit shallow when you a/b them against the originals, but THIS one does the original justice (as do others). Wonderful work, guys and ladies. I hope you all have wonderful lives.
That famous guitar riff is so darn hard to reproduce. This is so specific riff for Brian May. No one other than Brian May himself can play it better. But he was as close as possible to the original. I love that the covers are so faithful to the original songs, and I hope you'll keep doing them :)
I thought he butchered the solo, tbh. It's made worse by the rest of the piece being spot on :'( It was one of the first things I learnt to play, almost 30 years ago - so I know it's not that hard. That said, it *is* hard to match that tone!
