That ascending scale is difficult, at best, to achieve. The lead singer's decision to go the very bottom of her register, then start to climb, was very wise and well done. Kudos!!

You know, after listening to many of these SOR videos, I believe the school's transcribers/arrangers, along with vocal coaches make sure these kids don't ruin their pipes while trying to do songs that don't quite yet fit the maturity of their voices. Don't get me wrong, they do the best to make sure that all these young performers shine. Kudos!

At first, I thought she's got a nice tone in the low range, surely that can't be her in the high part...thought it was one of the others. Nope! Pretty, cool, voice Sydney!

I didn’t expect her voice to be as low as it was! But she totally rocks it before showing us her awesome range! She’s got her own style and various little quirks to her voice that gives us a glimpse of personality. They’re all quite talented! Really enjoyed the video!

Singer was not great… I believe in constructive criticism.. singing was way too low for her voice so she can hit the high notes…

The whole band is amazing but the singer just isn’t a match for this song she’s not bad, she’s just has a lower voice that doesn’t ring into the song. You know she’s got the chops and the range. Would love to see her on another song that matches her

It’s quite a process to become one of those kids. They are picked from about 60,000 kids across the US after being recommended by their local SoR, a taped audition and 2 live auditions. Really nice performance! The tempo never lagged, the energy was high, the band was tight and the lead vocalist nailed the range. All the vocal performances were crisp and spot-on. These guys really brought out the best in this song!

Yeah, he is very good with some interesting fills going on there. My only criticism was that I think that he was over playing just a bit. Overall the kids did an excellent job. Too bad you can't make much of a living as a regular rock musician these days with nearly all the clubs and live music bars long since having vanished. Dave (Bar band guitarist 1969 to 1973 or thereabouts, CSN&Y, Zep, Chicago, Three Dog Night etc.)

@@willburhans3018No disrespect was intended. "overplaying" (only slightly) was just my opinion. Maybe it was the mix that gave me that impression? Nikhil is a talented and a very accomplished drummer. I left the my band because of all the drama being in a band entailed and which was diminishing the quality of the music. We had one drummer who was amazing who had left to join a touring band. A few months later I was invited by him to join the band because one of the guitar players was leaving. They were about to go on another tour, this time as the opening act for the Allman brothers. I refused as I was back in university, had a research position that I loved and so left pro music behind. (That may have a bad decision) I visited your RU-vid site and you are a very accomplished drummer. Good luck with your career. -dave

More organic than the original, and more interesting in my opinion. These teenagers nail it so well. The drummer is born to his instrument. Very well played also by the bassist. They are a perfect combo. Lead singer has a wonderful voice. All of them are good.

Bravo! This is a fun little song with a devilishly difficult vocal range and Sydney absolutely nailed it effortlessly! What a wonderful contralto voice she has, well done young lady! I love the fact that SOR allows these kids to take a song and make it theirs rather than trying to be note for note copies of the original, and that makes these videos so much fun to watch and listen to. 😄

It's not often that I fall in love with a singer's voice with the very first note they sing, but this was one of those times. Such a nice tone with a slight vibrato. Far too few altos in this world. Would love to find other things that she's done.

Yeah, it's like two and a half octaves so either you have to pull the high notes, have the low parts be too high, or just be awesome.

Oh wow, this was special! First, the lead vocalist sounded absolutely amazing. Second, I loved all the keyboards, especially the handheld one. Man I haven't seen one of those since the 80's. That really brings back memories. Finally, everyone did a fantastic job, from the drummer to the rest of the band to the backup vocalists. Just awesome guys!

That's really impressive how the vocalist can hit those low ranges. Wouldn't work with a soprano, excellent choice. But she has the range to really get up there when she needs to.

Drummer is ahead by a ¼ beat. He'd doing what is called freight training. Lead singer has a fantastic ear. Too many guitars. Who ever mixed this did a stellar job. Video editor is top-shelf.

This is NOT an easy song to sing, and rarely gets covered for that reason. Sydney, you nailed it to the wall. As for the rest of the band- there were signed bands in the 80s that didn't play this tight. Had you all graced the stages back then, you'd be legends today!

Excellent performance. Drummer spot-on. Bass line, I love that punchy staccato feel. The singer had a tough job because of the range but I think she cracked it. And the best thing, is that here is a bunch of graduates that like actual music!!

Graduates? These kids are in High School. The girl guitar player was in this years AllStar band. This is a prior years band. It’s very competitive to get into this band. They are picked out of about 60,000 kids. I followed the West Coast band this summer. They were really great. The guitarist was in that one.
