So when you hit null 9 times the note will keeps on playing (Like as if the music is freezed but only the note). Waiting until you hit him another time
When you throw a first item at him, the music will change and he is going to chase you down. If you throw another one, the music will run (maybe 0.15) and Null will run faster than you. Throw more items, and the music (with Null) speeding up. When you throw almost at the end of the items, the music freezes (and Null is way 10x faster) Throw the last one and he will be defeated. (This will teleport you to the secret room {where you find a diary and a janitor room})
The null being 10x faster than you fact isn't actually true. You speed up and null does too. So when you try to run from him at the last part and he catches up to you, it's because he finds the fastest way to get to you. You would have to know the fastest way to go if you wanted to possibly outrun him.

your description implies it is possible to loose Null, how though? you dont have items in the chase, and he will notice if you open any room. At such speed it seems highly unlikely, if not completely impossible
