Real nice bowie seeing that your handle is all jacked up, maybe it would be a good time to learn to make a handle. It looks like a simple construction with just 3 screw/bolts. You could take the old handle and use it as a template on some wood or material of your choice. Then cut it out and shape it. 🤷♂️ good throwing devil dog. Nice dog too. 👍
That thing is a tank.....one of the heaviest I own. I was impressed with the steel, very sharp and durable. Take care of your blades and they will take care of you.
1:07 It’s throw time! Have you tried throwing w/ your strong foot forward? Also hockey grip tape is your friend. Wrap that handle w/ some Zombie green - available at Walmart.
Why on earth would anyone in their right mind actually throw a big knife like that hard into a tree? I'm baffled. If it is for "hunting", chances are you'll probably starve! Firstly, you'll probably never get to within 5 paces of any wild life! Even if you did, the instant you go into your throw the target will take off long before the knife arrives! And, of course there is also a good chance of breaking off the tip of your knife, reducing its usefulness severely. A better solution would be to make a throwing "javelin", and have a better chance of a meal. Bows and arrows are much more finicky, and require far more skill than one would think. With the proper training, however, and lots of practice, it is possible to take down a rabbit or other small animal out as far as 20-30 metres. But they are bulky and need to be looked after. Most people find that trapping is a better option, depending of course on the location. If one can find a water-hole, setting snares and traps along access pathways can be very effective. Once again, this requires knowledge, skill and a lot of practice and patience. Living off the land is a very romanticized concept that has landed many folk in a lot of trouble. Hence, the suggestion is to have an appropriate firearm to help improve the odds of survival somewhat. Just my penny's worth. Cheers
Hey Dennis! Thanks for watching and commenting! I sincerely appreciate your input! I don’t know anyone that would hunt with a throwing knife . For me it’s just a pastime do have fun with. Landing a large knife into a target is a very rewarding feeling :) you should get you a “throw away” knife and try it sometime:)
@@gustifer0311 Thanks Gus. I've made several throwing knives, and got quite proficient with them, but they were designed and meant for throwing. With them you could extend your range by quite a bit. However, the problems with hunting with them still remain. Thanks for the comment.
@@dennisleighton2812 I don’t have any throwing knives, but I’ve learned my best accuracy is 5 or 7 steps. If it’s a heavy knife , my accuracy is about 50 percent. (Accurate meaning it sticks lol). I struggle with small knives. I always feel like I’m over throwing them.
Not really considered a throwing knife, however unless your highly accomplished knife thrower, but considering this it, did well in the hands of a beginner
Hey Doug thanks for watching! I don’t really carry throwing knives, bc all you can do is throw them lol. I don’t know what it is about this knife, perhaps it’s just the heavy weight of it, that really inspires you to want to throw it! And that weight makes it sink easy without throwing hard :)
@@dougrider594 lol! It serves a purpose! Now folks know what happens when you bang metal objects together 😂 now, I would never do that to a quality blade! But your cousins might so watch who you lend your stuff too! 🤣
