Watch Full Episode - • Kanye West Made Alex J... Comedian Andrew Schulz talks about his recent trip to Art Basel Miami 2022 and why it’s the worst parts of Miami all crammed into one place.
I went to art basel before it got “pop culture” and will always remember going into one exhibit where it was featured out of an old motel. Every room had an open door policy and you could walk in to each artists exhibit - it was cool seeing the classic Miami Beach motels turned into an art exhibits. It has lost its touch and as a Florida native I never imagined it would ever turn into a thing as it is today. There was an artist who featured open packages of medical grade fentanyl along with other deadly pharmaceutical drugs. They were all empty but featured individually in a frame. It’s always had a super crazy side to it which has attracted a lot of the wild side you see today. It was more about the art earlier in the decade and social media has played a big part in turning it into a party scene too. Never used to be like this. The people I was with own an art gallery in New England and would go down to buy art to showcase in their showrooms. It was a exclusive networking event for moguls to due business and play in the winter sun. Was. And now we have RU-vidrs talking about it which party is better. Hard pass.
I might not be rich, but I get what Shultz is saying from working security. We had Real House Wives and a few names come through the lounge I worked at. The whole thing was cheap to me, because I know the place with the lights on. I could never understand people being happy to go to my work and "show out" by buying a 300$(40$) bottle of Grey Goose
As a local, Schultz is correct in all. I was born and raised in the 305. But Schultz...I love you but....shhhhhhhh! We don't need ppl knowing about the utopia 😂
Art Basel definitely missed the ridiculous amount of fake money the crypto bros --- lot events fell flat. Hotels were definitely not anywhere near capacity.
As someone who lives here, Miami has always been like that. That's just how it is all the time. That time after covid felt different because it was all people from NY coming to chill without restrictions
Is it just me or is Andrew getting a little slower and less funny? To much partying maybe? He did say he just started trying drugs. I hope the man's okay.
